Overall, the value you will get from this compilation is overwhelming. Trying to snag all eight of the original Mega Man games in good condition (not to mention the two arcade games) would run you a much higher amount in the end. The extra features may not exactly blow you away, but when you have ten Mega Man games placed before your very eyes, it's hard to whisk your attention away by anything else. Get this compilation and feel the makings of video game history in your hands.

This really is a great time to be alive. You know that any TV show you’ve ever liked will soon be released on DVD, any celebrity you’ve ever had a crush on will soon release an internet sex video, and most importantly, any old-school game you loved playing will be released on next-gen consoles. This time around though, it’s more than just an old school game- it’s a collection of possibly the best side-scrolling platformer series ever- the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. Now, an anthology release may seem like a gimme, but there are a lot of things that the developers can do right, and lots that they can do very, very wrong. So, how did Capcom do with the blue bomber’s chronicles? Let’s find out together, shall we?

Before I start this review let's have a quick lesson in basic math. Capcom has repeated ad nauseum that the Mega Man Anniversary Collection was created to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the blue bomber. The original Mega Man was released in 1987, seventeen years ago. Now, Mega Man 2, which many gamers consider the high point of the series, was released fifteen years ago in 1989. While I think it's great that Capcom is celebrating the release of one of the greatest sequels ever, Mega Man 2 was not the creation of the series.

I can't thank Capcom and Atomic Planet enough. They've let me into a world I wasn't developmentally ready for 15 years ago, but which still makes me feel like a kid again. I always knew I'd come back to Monsteropolis someday. Thanks for waiting, Mega Man.

There's practically no problems with this game. It's like a Greatest Hits collection of the finest, early Mega Man games, and both newbies and old players really need to check it out. It'll run you only 20 bucks, it's full of loads to do, and it's just as fun as it was so many years ago – this is one purchase you won't regret.

Tre klassiker, fem bra spel, två bonusspel. Du kan spela Mega Man ända ner i graven.

Anniversary Collection is packed with tons of nostalgia, unique weapons (including the suspiciously fanciful "Top Spin"), and more hardcore 2D shooting and platforming than you can shake an arm cannon at. If you pine for your younger days when you could effortlessly fire off rounds of Search Snakes, you owe it to yourself to pick up this testament to one of gaming’s true legends.

If there’s one thing I took away from Anniversary Collection, it’s that the displacing rock monster in Dr. Wily’s castle is one of the hardest bosses ever. To make things worse, the trick where you repeatedly hit the Select button to make your Elec Beam register multiple hits won’t work this time around, which means you have to take him out the old fashioned way.

Over the years, Mega Man has earned a place in gaming history, and this collection of his exploits is absolutely essential for even moderate fans of the series. Highly recommended.

If you've played Mega Man, and you've followed the game series as I have, you're sitting there now, nodding your head, teary eyed with nostalgia. You're thanking your favored deity for the goodness Capcom has released upon the world. You understand where I'm coming from. It's okay. You're among friends.

Ok- if you got this game its probably because you played the originals, so its not really your first impression now is it? That being said, I have to say the overall presentation in this game is astounding! Right from the start I found myself being impressed with the ingenuity presented in the compilation of the interactive menu that has you running Megaman (the 32-bit incarnation of him) around to the door of the game you wish to play.

The Anniversary Collection essentially boils down to a simple matter of degrees of Mega Man fandom. Younger players will have to decide if they can put up with old sprite based gameplay and 2D side scrolling action titles with limited environmental details or, for those who opt out of “navi mode,” old school musical scores. Those who can’t fathom a gaming experience not entirely grounded in 3D will probably wind up passing on this disc. However, gamers with a taste for nostalgia or older gamers who remember slogging countless hours against Wily will have the definitive title to relive their glory days and nights with. This is classic gaming done right with one of the industries best heroes finally getting his just due and future compilations from other companies would do well to take heed of how Capcom delivered this tribute to fans.

If there’s one thing I learned from Capcom growing up, it was never to bet against their little blue hero with a cannon for an arm. Regardless of the odds stacked against him, the valiant creation of Keiji Inafune (also of Onimusha fame) triumphed over his robotic brethren and ensured a peaceful world. He didn’t seek fortune or personal glory in his adventures; he was merely performing the job he was programmed for.

Like many other gamers my age, I grew up with Mega Man. Even though my interest slowly fizzled out as the series progressed, Mega Man remains one of the most important and recognizable icons in gaming history to me and many others. Luckily, now that all my old Mega Man cartridges won’t load up, Capcom has released Mega Mans 1 through 8 on a single disc for the Playstation2 and GameCube.

For fans of the Mega Man legacy, this is an absolute must-buy. For those who didn't grow up on this amazing action-platformer, this presents an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the origins of the heroic blue robot - and at a budget price no less.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection is surprisingly fun, especially for a group of games that debuted decades ago. If you’ve ever enjoyed a Mega Man title as an older gamer, you’ll find nostalgic fun. If you’re a younger player looking to explore Mega Man’s origins, you’ll find history on the home console. Either way, pick this title up today and you won’t be disappointed.

The first four NES games are definitely the highlight of the package although the SNES and PlayStation games have their own merits. The unlockable arcade games round out the package nicely and even allow for 2 player co-op action. Xbox fans practically get a “director’s cut” of the collection with all of the bonus content from the previously released GameCube and PS2 versions. You really can’t find a better value for less than 20 beans. Welcome Blue Bomber to the Xbox!

Though the current generation has already seen its fair share of old-school compilation sets with games like Activision Anthology and Midway Arcade Treasures, few of them have ever focused on anything other than the pre-NES days of the early 80s. So while a legion of gamers out there have already experienced Pole Position and Pac-Man in a million different ways, a significantly smaller number of users have yet to partake in efforts like Clash at Demonhead, Faxanadu, or The Adventures of Lolo. Unfortunately our gut instinct tells us that this type of situation isn't going to change anytime soon, but at least Capcom's first PS2 omnibus known as Mega Man Anniversary Collection gives us some legitimized hope.

This is simply one of the richest, most well-put-together classic compilations ever made. It manages to refrain from sacrificing key elements of gameplay for the sake of making the hardware transition process easier, and it makes improvements that are great and that just make sense. Not to mention all of the neat unlockables that are sure to please any longtime fans of the Blue Bomber and his many adventures. And on top of all of that, you can't forget the fact that you're getting 10 games for the price of your average budget title. So, to put it all in perspective, if you already own Mega Man Anniversary Collection on another platform, don't sweat it, as you won't find anything new here. However, if you missed the previous versions, and profess yourself to be any kind of proponent of classic gaming, you should not skip out on this one.

Overall, at a $19.99 price point, Mega Man Anniversary Collection for Xbox is a great deal for fans of the classic series, or new casual gamers looking to discover some of the best classic 2D gaming. However, a lack of selectable music and no graphical enhancements keep this game from breaking into the "A" grades. MMAC is still well-recommended for any nostalgiac or bargain gamer.

Megaman Anniversary Collection is definitely a must-have for Megaman fans, but, in my opinion, it is a must-have for anybody who appreciates 2D gaming. Ten games for $30, even if the two arcade games won't last that long, is a deal that should be seized by anybody who has a GCN or a PS2. Who knows, if enough people buy this, maybe we'll see Megaman X Anniversary Collection in a couple years.

Capcom took 10 great games and put them all on one disc. Although it is fun it's an old game, and old games get old fast, because now you are use to the graphics of this generation. Even though Megaman Anniversary Collection is a bunch of old games all stuck together in one, collectively it brings back all the fun and challenge you had when these games were state of the art. MegaMan AC is definently a must for any MegaMan fan and if you're not than give this bundle a try to see what you've been missing.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection is an import piece of gaming history that continues the trend of old becoming new again. Whether you’ve never tried a Mega Man game before or you’re a season veteran, Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a must have for all gamers. The game even includes two unlockable Mega Man-s that were never released on a console system in America. Both of the games are based on the Mega Man arcade games, which can best be described as Mega Man meets Street Fighter. The additional bonuses included such as character art and videos were a nice touch as well.

"Mega Man Anniversary Collection" é uma das melhores coleções de clássicos disponível no mercado, trazendo grandes títulos dos videogames em um competente pacote merecedor da fama do personagem-título. A dificuldade e aparência antiga pode ser dura de engolir para quem cresceu com consoles com gráficos 3D, mas por baixo desses sprites quadriculados se escondem verdadeiras jóias.

GameCubeCheat Code Central
There are few unlockables in the game such as interviews with producers as well as two Mega Man arcade games, Mega Man The Power Battles and Mega Man The Power Fighters. Both are very similar to the original eight games although they are a little less intense. These unlockables bring the game total to 10. For a budget-priced game, this is an example of a good value staring you right in the face.

GameCubeG4 TV: X-Play
Still, at a time when Nintendo has the nerve to release single NES games on the Game Boy Advance for 20 bucks a pop, we really can't complain. If nothing else, Capcom should be commended simply because it included all eight games in one package rather than trying to skimp out and release them in multiple volumes. For pure dollar value -- 10 total games for $29.99 -- Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a great buy. That is, if you can make your peace with the atrocious button-swapping snafu.

This is a collection of games that every true gamer should own. These are not only some of the most famous games in the industry, but some of the best as well. Even if you own the original carts and either of the CD versions, the meager $29.99 retail on this set is worth it. This is a game that should require an immediate purchase.

Make no two bones about it, Mega Man Anniversary Collection is one of the better anthology sets we've seen (even if it is a little light in the game count compared to other retro throwbacks like Intellivision Lives and Activision Anthology). Throw in the fact that is has a suggested retail price of less than $30, a decent amount of bonus content, and the right dose of enhancements to an already strong lineup of games, and it's hard to imagine our Xbox libraries without it.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection commemorates the birth and rise of one highly distinguished star amongst many in the Capcom universe. Totaling 10 playable Mega Man games?eight games were previously released on home consoles (the NES (one through six), the SNES (seven), and the PlayStation (eight) and two arcade games were never officially released in the U.S. (until now)?this peculiar assortment ensures loyal fans a holistic experience in reliving the origin of our hero. This means that the same 8-bit battling bots we saw and heard in the first six Mega Man games on the NES are back alongside the evolved and more elaborate sights and sounds from the later games in the series.

Capcom still touts Mega Man Anniversary Collection as a celebration of the 15th anniversary of Mega Man. In reality it had been 17 years when the other versions were released; it is 18 now. So we have an increasingly incorrect anniversary celebration. That does not change the fact that if you played the Mega Man games on your dearly-departed NES and want to give them another spin for old times sake, this is the compilation you’ve been looking for. For those looking for insight into the franchise, you’re only going to be half satisfied. The games are here to experience but, since they are not up to modern quality, you’ll probably not want to play them through. That means the great extra content will remain locked and the package will offer no historical insights until a code becomes available to allow the extras to be examined. A terrific collection of games from a very influential (though now grossly over-exposed) franchise that none the less fails as a full-featured compilation.

If you can get over the criminal lack of configurable controls, it’s hard to go wrong with Mega Man Anniversary Collection. The games vary in quality, but even the worst one is pretty good, and the best ones are deservingly legendary. With these games and at this price, all the control problems in the world can’t keep this collection from being a must-own.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection is about as good as we could have hoped, and maybe a bit better. It faithfully reproduces the classic action series, and the handful of modern conveniences are a nice addition. However, the display method the game uses looks bad and the extras are a bit underwhelming. It's a good collection, but those shortcomings bring it down a bit. If you've never played the original Mega Man series or don't notice the graphics issues, feel free to add another star to the score. The low, $20 price tag and the convenience of having so many games on one disc make this an excellent place to start playing ... and learning.

Or perhaps with a touch of navel gazing, so you can better understand the reviewer's perspective. This review is different than most, as it begins instead with a bold, assertive warning.
