Mega Man X: Command Mission is an interesting RPG that offers players with open minds a good time without any strings attached. I can definitely see the more elite class of role-playing fans out there breezing through it in a weekend, though, while the game's complete lack of an epic storyline or a killer challenge may hurt its chances with the more dedicated crowd in the long run.

Still, don’t let all the faults get in the way of picking this game up. It cannot be emphasized enough how much fun can be had with this game, even if, at the end of the day, it is a bit of fluff.

Even so, Command Mission still offers a lot of really run experiences and I'm glad that Capcom took the chance with a series that has admittedly been going the way of the avalanche. And despite the game's moderate first-time shortcomings, it's still more than worth your time in front of the television set. With its abundance of cool unlockables, neat customization options, and strong amalgamation of strong RPG battle systems, I can easily recommend it to Mega Man X fans who are tired of being disappointed and are willing to try a little something different. Here's to hoping that Capcom decides to create a bigger, less linear sequel sometime in the near future!

Overall Mega Man X: Command Mission is a solid game that Blue Bomber fans looking for a change of pace may find enjoyable. Fans of the X series may not be prepared to deal with the turn-based nature of the combat in the game, or the unsettling number of encounters they'll have to endure before the game comes to a climax. If you like turn-based role-playing and love Mega Man to death, then give Mega Man X: Command Mission a closer look.

I liked it for the good looking eye candy, but simply was not challenged, MMX has lots to celebrate but fails to really turn heads in terms of originality and innovative gameplay.

Mega Man, in all his incarnations, has droves of loyal fans, and many of those fans have followed his exploits through wave after wave of action games. Mega Man X: Command Mission steps a bit outside the blue bomber's usual turf, fitting his latest adventure into the frame of a turn-based role-playing game while matching X (as Mega Man is known in this series) against evildoing mavericks once more. The transition to the more measured pace of a turn-based battle system is handled surprisingly well, and while the game is too short and too simplistic, there's still a good time to be had here for Mega Man X fans.

The big disappointment came with the story, which was rife with predictability and cliches. Also, the environments all looked mechanical and drab - designed with the same robotic single-mindedness with which X vanquishes his foes. Still, all in all, I walked away pleasantly surprised.

Sticking to a basic and virtually flawless RPG format isn't necessarily a bad way to introduce X and his friends to a turn-based style of gameplay. Command Mission might not exactly be topnotch when measured up again better-known RPGs like Final Fantasy. But as well developed as it is, it should still prove worthy, so long as it doesn't fail to capture the essence of Mega Man.

Mega Man X: Command Mission is an interesting new step for the Mega Man franchise. Mega Man fans will enjoy it, but with it's short and very linear main quest, RPG hounds should probably look elsewhere. It's a solid RPG with a good battle system, but it's just a little too familiar to be a great game. But it's still a very good game that's worth the 15-20 hours or so it will take to beat it.

According to my very own brain, this game does not please RPG lovers and neither will it be of any use to the NES 2D-action lovers. The game cannot be called bad in any perspective but that does not mean it has that something with which it distinguishes itself from all the other ones over at mediocre mountain, something I hope this review actually does.

Sure, Command Mission has a number of flaws, but it's still a fairly enjoyable (if relatively short) RPG. And it's a heck of a lot better than the recent batch of Mega Man X games. If you're looking for a hardcore RPG experience, pass on this, but Mega Man fans should appreciate the change of pace.

Though the story may be more palatable to a younger audience, the difficulty levels are so uneven that any player young enough to stomach the weak plot is probably not up to the frustration some of the boss fights provide. These challenging battles were a highlight for me, but it takes inhuman endurance to slog through all of the garbage to get to them. Despite its stylish cel shading and cool combat, much of the game just feels derivative, providing fun only for the extremely patient or extremely deaf.

It’s a capably constructed RPG, to be sure, but it’s hard to explicitly recommend Mega Man X: Command Mission to anyone who isn’t already a fan of Mega Man or RPGs. If you’re a little bit of both, chances are you’ll dig it immensely. But in the final computation, it’s revealed that some aspects of the game are long past their prime.

Mega Man has never been a thinking man’s game. Honestly, if I had an X-Buster grafted onto my arm, I wouldn’t spend my time reasoning things out, either. With all of his experience in the action genre, it’s no surprise that the battle system is the best part of Command Mission, Mega Man’s most recent foray into the RPG realm. Every character you recruit has multiple weapons, a super move, and a hyper mode that makes them extra-awesome for a few rounds. Though not exactly innovative, it is incredibly fun to use these powers to bust up legions of robotic ne’er-do-wells.

Mega Man X has seen his share of trouble in the past few years. The last few games in the X series (the most recent being X7) have been, well, uninspired to say the least. Given Mega Man's long history of platform-based games, it was quite a surprise to see that the latest X title is a full-on, turn-based RPG. This was somewhat of a risky move on Capcom's part considering that Mega Man hasn't had the best of luck in switching genres (remember that a game called Mega Man Soccer actually exists).

We've had some great times together, and I still like to go back and play Mega Man 2 or The Misadventures of Tron Bonne when I have the time. But I'm really uncomfortable with the direction you're going these days. Where's the innovation? Hell, I'll even settle for repetitive, underwhelming fun. That's not too much to ask, is it? I've played some really good RPGs in the past few months, but this one doesn't even rank.

I'm giving Command Mission an above-average score for the sake of pure sentimentality. But consider yourself warned -- shape up or it's over between us.

The Mega Man series has been one of the most enduring in video game history (only Mario has appeared in more titles than the DRN-001), but it has occasionally suffered from creativity droughts. Capcom used the only good idea they had for a RPG featuring the Blue Bomber with the Battle Network series, and even that is running out of steam. Mega Man X: Command Mission was poorly executed in every stage of development, and it’s hard to imagine even die-hard fans of the series enjoying this title.
