1. ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH AIR

When traveling between planets, you have to make sure that your oxygen is full. If it's isn't, XL30 gives you the following warnings:

20 turns: Be aware of the air supply
30 turns: Air supply is getting low!
40 turns: Warning: Air supply is dangerously low! Get back to the ship fast!
50 turns: Mickey and Pluto have run out of air and are too tired to continue!

2. CODES USED TO TRAVEL BETWEEN PLANETS

When traveling between planets, the game will give you a clue as to what planet you need to go to, and you have to know your astronomy to find out the planet that the game is referring to. See below for some notes regarding this. You have to plot in a course for that planet by entering a code, which involves you pushing a series of "orange" and "blue" buttons. Here are the codes for the different planets :

Orange - Mercury
Blue - Venus
Orange, Blue - Earth
Orange, Orange, Blue - Mars
Orange, Blue, Blue - Saturn
Orange, Orange, Blue, Blue - Jupiter
Orange, Orange, Orange, Blue, Blue - Uranus
Orange, Orange, Blue, Blue, Blue - Neptune
Orange, Orange, Orange, Blue, Blue, Blue - Pluto


If you happen to enter an invalid code, you will be asked to go to the Map Room, which is east and north from the ship's control panel.

3. CLUES AND ANSWERS

To determine the next planet you need to go to, you are given clues. There are up to five clues for each planet (except Venus, which has six). If you travel to the wrong planet, the game will tell you that there are no crystals there, and you will have to travel to another planet.

Mercury

1. A planet which is closest to the sun

3. A planet that rotates very slowly so that its day is very long
4. A planet that is very hot during the day, and very cold at night
5. A small, hot planet
