Micro Machines V3

If racing around imaginatively designed courses in an impressive range of all-terrain vehicles is your thang, then pass up this chance at your own peril. Highly recommended.

In a genre crowded with games and many rip-offs, the game that incorporates the smallest competitors is able to stand above all others. Despite its flaws, which include a quirky multiplayer and lack of a battery save, this simplistic game may be the most fun in a racer I have had in a while.

Micro Machines V3 is the best game we've played in many a long day, and one that we've now played for many more, even longer, days. We suggest you do the same.

With Vivid graphics, Violent weapons, and swift Velocity, Micro Machines V3 has everything you could desire in a racing game. It's a complete racing simulation in a fully 3D environment where up to eight players can compete simultaneously.

MMV3 is truly fabulous. Most players will pass it by because it just doesn't look that great and -- let's face it -- the premise of racing little toy cars around a breakfast table just doesn't sound as exciting as something as WipeOut XL or F1. But those buy this will be rewarded with one of the most fun and addictive multiplayer games yet seen on PSX.

Gamers met een netwerkje thuis moeten absoluut eens plaatsnemen achter het stuurtje van een van de 32 wagentjes van Micro Machines V3. En al vond ik de titel grafisch mooier op de PlayStation, het blijft het een goeie multigamer, vooral als je een sterke bak met een flinke lading videogeheugen hebt staan.

Micro Machines V3 ist im Einzelspielermodus ganz unterhaltsam, dreht aber erst im Multiplayermodus so richtig auf und hier gilt: Je mehr Mitspieler, desto besser. So kann das Spiel auch heute noch absolut überzeugen.

In retrospect, the Micro Machines series almost seemed to mock the 16bit systems it dominated. Tiny vehicles, simplistic circuits and “O”-level-Art-standard characterisation added up to an atmosphere that could best be described as cheap and cheerful.

Micro Machines is an entertaining change of pace, but the long term replay value just isn't there to keep most gamers playing for more than a couple of hours. While the game does offer up nice sound effects, power-ups and plenty of play options, there just isn't enough here to make it much more than an occasional party game with a few of your friends.

Mit Vollgas um das gemischte Eis mit Sahne, geschickt im Blumenbeet geslidet oder mit Karacho über die Butterbrot-Schanze - das bietet nur Micro Machines V3. Zwar hat sich rein spielerisch gegenüber dem Vorgänger nichts Entscheidendes geändert, aber allein schon die schick designten Strecken lassen bei mir wieder das alte Micro-Fieber ausbrechen. Mit der Steuerung der automobilen Kleinteile ist den Entwicklern ebenfalls ein Mini-Meisterwerk gelungen. Die Karren fahren sich perfekt einfach, trotzdem schön glaubwürdig und lassen erfahrene Piloten locker mal Kunststücke machen. Solisten nutzen den Solomodus zum Üben, die etwas lieblose Pseudo-Kampagne kann mich nicht so richtig motivieren - zumal die Computerpiloten langweilig perfekt über die Kurse gurken und selten überraschen. Seine wahren Stärken spielt das Programm im Mehrspieler-Modus aus. Ein V3-Abend mit gut gelaunten Mitfahrern mutiert schnell zur abgedrehten Party.

Перейдя в трехмерную вселенную, микромашинки несмоненно многое приобрели, при этом ничего не потеряв. Обилие трасс и видов транспорта порадуют самый взыскательный вкус. А непринужденный игровой процесс полюбят многие, даже те, кто не играл в предыдущие две части игры. Стильность MM3 радует глаз и разум, затягивает и оставляет весьма приятственные ощущения. Думаю, что все любители столько простого жанра, как аркада, меня поймут. Остальных попрошу не беспокоиться.

Wenn eine Fortsetzung so viele Verbesserungen bietet wie Micro Machines V3, warte ich gerne mal drei Jahre. Obwohl die Codemasters ihre Just-for-Fun-Flitzerei selbst als "Multiplayer-Rennspiel" bezeichnen, wird auch für einen einzelnen Spieler relativ viel geboten. Grafisch ist das Spiel ein Leckerbissen geworden – vorausgesetzt, man besitzt eine Direct-3D-kompatible Beschleunigerkarte. Schade, daß der Spielspaß dann doch durch einen fetten Bug getrübt wird (Systemabstürze nach dem Abspeichern eines Charakters). Ein Update ist dringend erforderlich!

Ich fühle mich wieder wie ein kleienr Junge, der mit seinen Matchbox-Autos spielt, wenn ich über Brücken aus Havanna-Zigarren und unter Schulbüchern herfahre. Und an meiner Sammlung von Bonusautos hängt mein ganzer Stolz. Man kann sie in mehreren Stufen aufrüsten, ich fahre deshalb auch bereits gewonnene Strecken gern noch einmal. Aber manche alten Schwächen sind geblieben.

Micro Machine V3 reste tout à fait dans la même ligne de conduite que ses prédécesseurs. Alliant une bonne réalisation, un concept toujours aussi amusant, et une multitude de modes différents, ce jeu a tout pour que vous passiez de bonne soirées seul ou à plusieurs...

Mange vil sikkert hade det for dets enkle og tegneserie-agtige stil, men enhver, der har prøvet de 2 forgængere, vil vide, at der ligger megen underholdning gemt i legen med de små biler. Skal helt klart prøves!

Rattern Sie dann mit Ihrem Gefährt über Küchen- und Schreibtische, gilt es dann wie gewohnt, Messern, Zigarren oder verschütteter Milch auszuweichen, Sprungschanzen aus Spielkarten auszunutzen und Power-Ups einzusammeln, um fürs nächste Rennen vielleicht mit einem Bonus-Wagen antreten zu können. Micromachines V3 überzeugt zwar immer noch mit seinem bezaubernd simplen Gameplay und den zahlreichen Einzelspieler- und Multiplayer-Modi, aber bei der technischen Generalüberholung haben die Entwickler nicht allzuviel Ehrgeiz bewiesen. Grafik und Sound sind einfach nicht mehr auf der Höhe der Zeit – lediglich Gameplay-Puristen, denen es überhaupt nicht aufs Drumherum ankommt, werden ohne ein tadelndes Wort über diese durchaus vermeidbaren Schwächen hinwegsehen können.

This isn't the only wart Micro Machines has either. The main problem is that the quick and feeble charm it possesses wears off fast, and all the courses, options, and vehicles in the world (even this little tiny one) can't make up for the fact that the gameplay becomes incredibly monotonous almost immediately. All in all, Micro Machines V3 is a nice diversion from the first- or third-person racers that seem to crowd the field these days. But its repetitive gameplay and lack of a strong multiplayer mode make it only a brief detour. Rental brief, I'm afraid.

This games "fun factor", did one major divebomb for me. Initially, I was quite entertained by this title, but after just a few tracks I could tell this had shovelware written all over it. I found the control way too touchy with a gamepad, which is odd since I would think that this would be the ideal way to play. The game is also really childish in fact and that alone will turn off most gamers. The graphics, although supporting 3D cards, are plain and lacking any attention to detail that other games exhibit these days. Even the menu system annoys me in this game. You go through 3 startup screens, a movie clip, and 5 setup screens just to race a track. I would really like it if games would lay off on the pre-game crap that they seem to feel is so necessary. Who cares who the maker is after the 50th time of starting a game? Just go straight to the game and let me play, that's what I want. If you want good top-down racing, get IGNITION.
