Might and Magic: World of Xeen

The gameplay is very comfortable. One feature of the interface is the auto mapping, and there are spells that can expose the entire mapping area. Speaking of spells, there are a huge variety that can be used for defensive, offensive and healing purposes. There is also a variety of armor and weapons that can be used by your characters. Moving and combat can be done through the keyboard or the mouse. The games also offers a lot of puzzles to solve. At the end of the game, I had filled five A4 pages trying to solve all the puzzles and riddles encountered. All in all, the game is great and deserves 5/5. Some consider this to be the best of the Might And Magic series, although others consider it a close tie with Might And Magic VI.

With this package you must install both Clouds and Darkside of Xeen to your hard drive (not too devastating); and you can cross over between the two games at will. In my opinion the second half of this saga, the DarkSide, is a better-designed game. In this second part the plot is more prominent which gives more purpose, and more direction to the story. Also it has an extra serving of interesting puzzles including word games such as building a crossword from clues within a maze and finding passwords, as well as a few maths problems thrown in for good measure. However, they are both very engrossing journeys for intrepid adventurers and there are many, many locations to explore with a long list of crazed monsters to put you to the test.

As a note, the game is just like MM4 and MM5, no new skills, no new spells, no new characters... The only differences you may notice are from the parts added from one or other game, if you already played one, but the games where so clearly made to join each other that it looks more like an expansion with a few additions than another game.
