There are a few drawbacks to this game, but that is only because I picked up the PS2 version. The graphics are fairly poor and the loading and saving time make me want to shoot myself. I did run into a few glitches in the game, but the game play, commentary and game physics are usually spot-on. If you are going to pick up a new baseball game this year, pick up MLB 07: The Show.

If you enjoyed MLB 06 you’re sure to like MLB 07, but you’ll need to decide if the minor updates to the game are worth it to you to warrant a purchase. If you’re looking for your first baseball game for your PSP, then MLB 07 is an excellent choice.

There isn?t much that Sony has left out when it comes to bringing you as close to the real game as possible. MLB 07: The Show is just another step towards greatness and with a PS3 version coming next month, gamers can only salivate wondering what improvements to this already great game are looming in the not to distant future. Is this the Roy Hobbs of baseball games? You bet your sweet fanny it is.

While the changing of the guard is rarely easy on those left out of it, the developers of the PS2 port of MLB 07: The Show have only to look at a rating of E (for Everyone) and an installed base of 70 gazillion PS2 units to recognize this game’s worth. And like a group of major league veterans, they didn’t bobble the ball when it came their way.

Overall MLB 07: The Show is a complete joy to play and one of the best baseball games I’ve played in quite some time. While supplies last, your $39.99 purchase also gets you a free New Era baseball cap which is a $15-20 value, so you really get your money’s worth with this title. I highly recommend it.

Want to talk about a wild card? There's an argument to be made that this is the best baseball game on the market, including the sharp MLB 2K7 on new gen. Really, it feels like baseball, which is a beautiful thing.

Overall, MLB 07 is one of, if not the best, baseball games ever made. Sure, the graphics may not be on par with those from the MLB 2K7 series. Sure, there might be a couple of minor flaws with fielding. However, the game does one thing right and it does it exceptionally well - it makes for a ridiculously fun experience.

Fans of the MLB series from Sony will thoroughly enjoy this title for all of the additions and new experiences that MLB 07: The Show offers. MLB 07: The Show is the pinnacle of a sequel when it comes to a sports title, the gameplay has been finely tuned, the graphics have been improved and the audio is crisp and engrossing. For the third consecutive year, Sony sets the standard for portable baseball gaming.

Many may think that more needed to happen for this game to go further than what we have in the MLB 07: The Show experience on the PSP. However after playing this game for countless hours, I am here to say that MLB 07: The Show has all of the needed ingredients for a great sports game, and gives you a few delightful extras on the side. If Sony can continue this in the future, you are going to be in for one dominant baseball franchise.

Even with the $40 price tag, MLB 07: The Show offers up enough content to be worth a next-gen price tag. The game feels, sounds, and largely looks like a really solid baseball game. From the wealth of deep single player modes to the enticing online package, there’s really no reason to not pick up MLB 07: The Show if you’re looking for the best baseball experience around. Not since MVP Baseball 2005 has there been such a solid baseball game like this. Sony didn’t just knock this game over the wall; it’s out of the park.

With MLB 07: The Show, you have a game that has taken baseball to a whole new level by offering up an experience that for some may feel dated on the PS2, but if you let yourself get into this game you will be in for one big treat. I think more than anything, MLB 07: The Show sets extremely high hopes for its PS3 counterpart, which is scheduled to release later this year. If you haven't made the transition to the PS3, or even if you have and you want your baseball fix, the PS2 version of the game makes for a great baseball experience.

The PS3 is going through the usual post-launch woes, but if you're a baseball fan, MLB 07 The Show is just the game to get you through the lean months until the usual fall insanity. There's just so much going on, so much to do, that it'll be months before everything has been seen. If you like micromanaging every facet of a baseball franchise, do it. More interested in playing online leagues? Sony has you covered. Rather create yourself and have a Hall of Fame career, or at least try. Yep, you can do that. Combined that with the most polished baseball gameplay in the business, and this is the closest we've had to a killer app in recent months on PS3. Sure you could play 2K's game, but only on PlayStation (2, 3 and PSP, but PS3 if you can swing it) can you play the best hardball simulation around. I bet someone wishes they could redo that exclusivity contract with MLB to freeze Sony out, because they done got shown up. Again.

I don’t really follow baseball as much as I used to. It just doesn’t appeal to me that much. This should be even more proof that this game is great. I haven’t truly enjoyed a baseball game this much since the MVP 2005. Sony now has the baseball game to beat, not EA.

I've always had a love-hate relationship with baseball games, but MLB 07: The Show is one of the more enjoyable baseball games I've played in a while. Although it isn't a perfect game, most of the issues are minor and can easily be ironed out in future iterations. MLB 07 offers a complete baseball experience and is easily the best baseball game available on the PS3.

PlayStation 3Game Chronicles
This game blew away any expectations that I had. Every second something caught me off guard and really brought me into the game even more. Now I have not played a baseball game on any other system other than the Nintendo 64, so I am a little behind on how the games are actually playing. Other review will say that this game is just like its earlier version with a couple of twist, but I don’t care. This game was the sickest sports game I have played in a long time. It is so hard core it isn’t even funny. Sometimes it can get too detailed and frustrate you, but isn’t that how the pros get when they hit rough spots in the year?!

PlayStation 2Game Informer Magazine
With the PlayStation 3 taking center stage, I was a bit worried that Sony would phone in the highly dreaded “this console is dead, so let’s just update the rosters” sequel. MLB 07: The Show may show a lack of creativity in the naming convention, but through a number of innovative enhancements, it turned out to be the most impressive follow-up that Sony has put together so far. All eyes may be looking to the next- generation, but for baseball, you are going to have to turn your gaze toward the PlayStation 2. For hardcore baseball nuts, The Show is the game to get.

PSPGame Vortex
MLB 07: The Show for Sony's PSP benefits from a narrow market. Perhaps that's why the framerate lags were allowed to stay in the shipping version. If you can get past that flaw, or if you simply have to have baseball on your own PSP, then you can either buy last year's game (really cheap, too) or lay down some scratch for this game that's actually very deep and fun to play.

PlayStation 3PSX Extreme
Forget MLB 2K7. Sony's MLB 07: The Show is without a doubt the best baseball title across any next-gen console. While there may be some argument between whether or not the PS3 version is superior to the PS2 version, they're both largely the same game just with different graphics. The Show may not be a powerhouse looker, but it is still a very sharp looking game with life-like animation that is a sight to see. The commentary is leagues better than anything out there and it really immerses you into the game. Most importantly, though, this is one baseball game that won't drive you crazy with stupid quirks, balance issues, and overly juiced gameplay. MLB 07: The Show isn't perfect, but it sure is great.

MLB the Show ’07 continues to progress upon their Show franchise. In 2007 the focus has been placed on the mound with improved artificial intelligence and new features and controls. For baseball fans who haven’t checked out The Show yet, buy your ticket. It's nice to see a sports franchise build upon the previous year's gains with some new solid game features. Whereas MLB '06 came across as a basic correction of buggy franchise play, MLB '07 actually tries to push the series and the sport further ahead particularly thanks to its Road to the Show career mode, redesigned pitching system and online options. Look no further, because The Show has gone back to back for the crown of the best baseball game around.

Sony could have easily dished out another tired remake of last-year’s game, but instead opted to add a ton of new features and improvements. And while MLB '07 might not measure up visually to the new standards being set on the new generation of consoles, the killer gameplay cannot be denied. Hardball doesn’t get better than this on any console.

Sony has once again stepped up to the plate and hit a home run with MLB '07: The Show for the PS2. Even with some minor shortcomings the game is still a winner. With the refinements and additions to the gameplay, and the robust online features, this latest version of the long running series shows that Sony's internal developers are capable of making a great in-house sports title. With the refinement and quality of this title on the PS2, I can't wait to see how the game pans out on the PS2's bigger and more powerful successor. Baseball fans who have yet to make the jump to the next-generation of hardware will surely enjoy this game.

MLB 07: The Show is a definite must buy for baseball fans who don’t own the PS2, or PSP version. MLB 07: The Show although lacking in graphics, has some of the most solid baseball mechanics seen in game form. I would notch the PS3 too far ahead of the PS2 version just yet, so I’m hoping next years time at the plate gives Sony enough time to revamp and polish its few rough edges. Overall its easy to say that Sony has hits another solid home run with MLB 07: The Show for the Playstation 3.

MLB ’07: The Show is a solid baseball game offering a huge variety of features to get your money’s worth. Being that this game was made by Sony and is their first offering of a baseball game for their new system, I really did expect more, especially on the visual side. I remember seeing target videos from Sony last year showing how sports games would look on the PS3, and this doesn’t even come close. Let’s hope that the next MLB will be built from the ground up and take full advantage of the PS3’s power. There’s also room for added features, such as the option of swinging the sixaxis controller as a virtual bat. I’m sure there will probably be over a hundred Wii baseball games on the market by this time next year that offer that same feature, but come on Sony, I know you can do it better. Play ball!

I would recommend this over MLB 2K7 just because of the Road to The Show mode. Innovation in a stale genre is always something to take a look at. The Show outclasses other baseball offerings, even if the graphics look like a PS2 game on steroids. Give it a try, there is quite a bit to enjoy with MLB 07: The Show.

MLB 07: The Show is the best baseball game currently available on the PS3. The sharp presentation, coupled with great gameplay and the excellent The Show mode make the game an easy recommendation for baseball-loving PS3 owners.

MLB ’07: The Show is still, in spite of a few errors, nine innings of fun baseball action. The online portion promises to be robust with leagues and tournaments, and the career elements are very entertaining. If viewed without wearing the hat of a former newspaper sports editor, and shucking aside the baseball purist attitude, MLB ’07 is a solid liner to the gap in right center. Though not quite home run distance, it does try to stretch that sure double into a triple.

PlayStation 3The Video Game Critic
I noticed a few minor visual flaws, like deserted bullpens (which should have pitchers), or the empty Eutaw Street outside of the homerun fence in Baltimore. The Show's two-man commentary isn't bad, but not quite up to professional telecast standards. It's easy to nit-pick, but The Show delivers were it counts, and that's with quality gameplay. This is one of the few sports games that successfully caters to hardcore and casual baseball fans alike.

For someone who is not a die-hard baseball fan, I really enjoyed this game. I can only imagine that if I was crazy for baseball this UMD would only leave my PSP in a year's time when MLB'08 was released. The graphical quality is high where it counts (the crappy looking crowds suck but aren't instrumental to gameplay), and the sound production is bang on. The online features make the replay value of this title grow more and more appealing as the baseball season continues well into the summer season.

In the end, this is by far the cream of the baseball handheld crop this season. The animations are smooth, the players look great, and the innovation -- particularly online -- is to be applauded.

So is MLB 07 the Show really worth picking up if you already have 06? Both games provide excellent gameplay, and really the only major improvement to MLB 07 is the addition of the Road to the Show mode. If you've already got MLB 06, it's difficult to justify the upgrade unless this mode particularly interests you, but for those new to the series then MLB 07 is worth the purchase for any fan of the sport.

The lack of a true Franchise mode is still noticeable, but aside from the disappointing frame-rate issue and exceedingly long loading times, there's a lot to like here. While Sony's MLB series has finally hit its stride after years of sub-mediocrity on the PS2, it's done nothing but impress on the PSP. MLB 07: The Show continues the trend. MLB 07: The Show doesn't quite have the soul we would like in a baseball game, and nobody's going to be knocked out of the park by its presentation. It does have attributes that are more important, though -- solid play, and lots of options for both single- and multiplayer. You're bound to find a mode to immerse yourself into, and you've never had so much fun pitching in a baseball sim before. Baseball fans are urged to let this game show you what it's all about.

It's become fashionable for billionaire ballplayers to discuss their feelings. Look at A-Rod, that poor fucking simp. Seriously, keep a box of Kleenex in the dugout, in case he needs to have a good Lifetime-style cry between innings. Which is no doubt why The Show's developers decided to focus on your pitcher's feelings this year.

Baseball is a great all around game, and at this time of the year many kids are playing in their town leagues and cheering on their favorite teams. This game is a great companion to those activities, as several of the game modes really make you think about what strengths and weaknesses each player has and how to set up the best possible team in order to win as many games as possible. Even though there is a full career mode, nothing else has been added that includes any questionable content (such as is seen in some NBA-themed games). If you love baseball (and can stand the load times on the PSP) this is one of the best baseball games yet, and certainly the best handheld baseball game to date!

Unfortunately, while it may not affect 95% of the people playing this game, the lack of trades and transactions during the season in Franchise mode is an issue that should have been caught prior to release. While this game would other wise gain an unprecedented second 10 out 10, I just can’t give a score that will be mistaken for perfect, when an error was clearly made in QA.

Last year's game was the best available for the system and this year's can make the same claim -- despite a more serious challenge this time around from the revamped MLB 2K7. The enhancements on the pitching side and the even funkier Career mode show that development isn't simply in cruise control. It's taken a long time to get there, but in the waning days of the PS2, the MLB series appears to have become a dynasty.

Although MLB '07: The Show features simplistic controls, it's still the best baseball game in town. Until the PS3 version comes along to officially take the reigns, PS2 The Show deserves attention.

If MLB 07: The Show sounds too overwhelming for those who are used to simple pitching, I won't recommend it, but for those never bought a MLB game or those who love collecting each game in the series, I must recommend it for MLB 07: The Show delivers more realistic baseball action than any game I've ever played.

PlayStation 3Cheat Code Central
Overall, MLB 07: The Show is a great game. If you are a baseball fan or a sports fan looking for a solid baseball game for your library, go ahead and pick up this title from Sony; you won't be disappointed. If you're not really into sports or don't quite understand the complexities and nuances of the game, then you won't really appreciate what Sony's MLB 07: The Show has to offer. Gameplay and authenticity are what set this game apart, both of which were also included in the PS2 version. Disappointingly, the graphics are very good but not excellent; as a result, I can't recommend the PS3 version over that of the PS2. The graphic update and the few extra features aren't enough to make the extra investment worthwhile, unless you want to take advantage of the added online elements. If I were you, I would save the money and pick up the last generation's version.

PlayStation 3TotalPlayStation
That said, I'm not so blind as to have missed that some of the modes from the PS2/PSP versions of the game aren't here, nor did the fact that the game really just doesn't feel next-gen in the least (though it's a very pretty high-res PS2 game) pass me by. Maybe it's just because MLB '07: The Show on the PS2 is so accomplished. Maybe it's because this was never meant to be anything more than a stopgap until a proper PS3 game can be created. Whatever the reason, the game's visuals aren't going to sell PS3s, but there's no denying the gameplay is good enough to bait in even us non-fans.

But that's then, and this is now - and what's here right now is certainly worth your time. MLB 07: The Show plays a fantastically realistic and remarkably fun game on the field - in fact, it's perhaps the best on-field baseball game ever created, and certainly the best one this year.

PlayStation 3Maxim Magazine
The PS3's graphics are certainly crisp, and the inclusion of SIXAXIS control for fielding—snap your controller up to make your shortstop jump and rob that vain fucker A-Rod of base hits—is very cool; but overall, the game feels less like a fully realized next-gen baseball game and more like a blueprint for next year's installment. For now, we'll trade this game for two minor league pitchers, a half gallon of Gatorade, and a case of fungo bats.
80
PlayStation 3GotNext
Even with a rather pedestrian look and feel, MLB 07 The Show is still a tremendously entertaining game that offers virtually endless amounts of fun to baseball fans. Not only is it a solid next-generation debut on the PS3, it lays the foundation for what should be a string of top-notch baseball games for years to come. The most important aspects of a superb baseball simulation are in effect, and all that's left is some spit, polish, and tweaks to take it to the level of sheer genius.

This time around, Sony has set itself up as the team to beat when it comes to baseball on the PS3. MLB 07: The Show is a slick and graphically upgraded version of an already strong PS2 title. It shares some of the same problems as that game -- namely a very difficult base running mode -- and has a few of its own in the form of some of some graphics hiccups, but overall, it's a solid debut. Hopefully, next year we won't have to wait this deep into the season for the thing to show up.
80
PlayStation 3GamerDad
In terms of graphics and controls, Sony's MLB '07: The Show, isn't perfect. There are occasional glitches, players run through each other, and a fly ball arcing out of reach of the Center Fielder will sometimes magically move downward into his mitt. That's disappointing, and would be reflected more in the score were it not for MLB's excellent "Road to the Show" mode.

PSPIGN
Damn you frame rate issues...Were it not for the dip in speed during gameplay, this could've been an incredible portable title. I'm not sure why it's there, especially since it wasn't in last year's game, but it really drags down the innovative play from features like Road to the Show and the new pitching system. Plus, is it too much to ask for Rivalry mode? Here's hoping that MLB '08: The Show regains its footing after this quick stumble.
77
PlayStation 3IGN
The Show manages to bring up the overall shell of Sony¿s baseball game from the PS2 minors, but as a next gen title, it doesn¿t have all of the fundamentals to compete with other sports games out there. Funky infielder logic, lackluster visuals and other odd changes to the gameplay formula literally turns a great baseball title on older systems into a good title on the PS3. That isn¿t to say that baseball fans shouldn¿t take a look at The Show; just don¿t expect it to be leaps and bounds that the other sports titles around.

Even though the PLayStation 3 is the definitive version of the series, and no doubt the best baseball game on the market, there are still some glaring issues that make the game seemed as if it were rushed to make this season. It will be interesting to see what Sony can do with this series with a bit more development time. For now, I'm happy to play my favorite baseball game in 720p HD than in SD, which only makes me wonder what's in store for next season.

While the PS2 version shines as the best baseball game released this year, this iteration really needed to cook a little longer in the minors to nail down the fundamentals of the sport. With that said, PS3 owners should look to the previous generation’s game.

Unfortunately, this is probably the final version of MLB for the PS2, so it'll be interesting to see how MLB '07 for the PS3 turns out, especially with news that MLB 08 will feature vast improvements to the franchise system. MLB 07: The Show is obviously a game baseball fans will enjoy more than non-fans. The realistic aspect of the game creates a wonderful feeling akin to the real game, and when you're online the updated MLB scores help add to that realism. Unfortunately, this means that a large portion of the sports gaming crowd will look elsewhere, as number crunching may not be their idea of fun. There's really no reason this game should have come out this late, and ultimately that will hurt its sales, since most of the people who would have gotten this picked up the PS2 version and there's not enough reason to justify repurchasing the game on the PS3. If you're a baseball fan who doesn't have MLB 07: The Show on the PS2 yet and you want a good baseball game for your PS3, go ahead and pick this one up. Casual sports gamers are better off renting first, to see if they enjoy the realism, or purchasing the cheaper PS2 game.

MLB 07: The Show is one of those games that had the potential to be a real home run hitter coming out of the gates with very little in terms of expectations. I would say the final results are more of a base hit than anything that they game had the potential to do. If you're into baseball and own a PS3, I would recommend checking out MLB 07 The Show, as it has a great deal of potential and manages to still make a good first outing.

Sony, fed up with 2K Sports hogging the baseball spotlight, finally released MLB 07: The Show for PlayStation 3. The game retains all of the features from its PS2 and PSP counterparts while incorporating new animations and spruced up visuals. It still offers the same, rock solid baseball experience, though some annoying glitches prevent its developers from scoring a homerun.

The MLB series is in the twilight of its life on the PlayStation 2, and it’s starting to show some wrinkles. There’s nothing terribly great about it, and there’s nothing especially outstanding either. If you’re looking for a starter hardball game, then MLB 07 The Show is definitely a good choice, but one more season of lethargy and Sony will be caught stealing.

If you really need your baseball fix and you don't have a PS3 (or don't want to wait), MLB '07 is as good a candidate as any out there, especially if you want the officially licensed mugs of your favorite and most hated players to use and abuse. You won't get to overthrow the imaginary alien conspiracy, but you will get to play a very realistic, stat-focused game of virtual baseball.

PlayStation 2G4 TV: X-Play
Despite some uneven spots, MLB 07 is still a fun game to play. The ability to customize the action with AI sliders is a big plus, the career mode lets you role-play as a single athlete with the "road to the show" option, and the broadcast-quality audio is the best to be found in any baseball title released to date. The trio of Matt Vasgersian, Dave Campbell, and Rex Hudler actually sound like they're watching the game unfold in real time, noting how many times a certain hitter has struck out, the number of consecutive hits allowed by a pitcher, and other milestones. MLB 07 may not be a significant step forward for owners of MLB 06, but its online support for custom leagues makes it a strong choice for fantasy baseball junkies looking to extend their fix beyond the box scores.

MLB 07: The Show is a decent baseball game but it's not quite as good as it was on the PlayStation 2. What's worse is the amount of glitches that wind up here in just about every area of the game. They don't completely kill the experience but they do give the sensation that maybe this game wasn't developed quite as finely as it should have been. Still, there are a decent amount of modes and the 2007 season is well represented here. If you're in the mood for a baseball game this should be on your list but it's not something I would go too gaga over.

As a baseball title, MLB '07: The Show, is a solid and has a wide array of choices. As a PS3 title, The Show whiffs badly. You're better off saving that $20 and purchasing the equally satisfying PlayStation 2 edition.

PlayStation 3G4 TV: X-Play
It's painfully obviously that Sony just took its PS2 game and jacked up a few stats here and there. Fortunately, the base game is solid, but PS3 owners and their $60 deserve a little more. It looks like they'll have to wait until next season to get it. This next-gen rookie needs more time before it earns a spot in the big leagues.

Overall, MLB 07 The Show is a bit of a disappointment. It’s still a fun game, especially if you haven’t played the PlayStation 2 version (I still would choose it over MLB 2K7), but I expected more from this game. Given the ongoing issues, it is tough to recommend this game if you like online play – hopefully this will be fixed soon. Right now the baseball game to beat on the PS3 is Konami’s Professional Baseball Spirits 4, and even with the language barrier, it’s still a more enjoyable game.

The bugs and the lame graphics show that MLB 07: The Show was a rush job. And that’s a shame, because there’s a lot of good stuff here. When Sony gets their online act together, we might reasonably expect to see “Road to the Show” style team games, in which nine players play nine positions. There’s a lot of bang in this potential major leaguer, but its lack of polish will keep it in the B-minors, at least for one more season.

The Show has it's moments and I did have fun going through the career mode. I was able to run through a season very quickly and it's a nice change of pace to play a certain position and work my way up from the minors. While it's not a huge step in improvement for a baseball game, MLB 07 The Show manages some good baseball moments. The bugs and some inconsistent issues leaves it at an above average baseball game though.

In the end, The Show is a solid game, but where the PS2 (and PSP) versions are inspired, the PS3 offering doesn't give the same feeling of "real" baseball. It's a no-contest this season: For the best new-gen baseball, stick with the most beautiful choice: MLB 2K7.
