The graphics in the game are AWESOME!!!! Where Monkey Island 1 bordered on the realistic, Monkey Island 2 was a cross between realistic and cartoonist. They were top notch graphics for the time, and they trounced over Sierra. The music is pretty good too. The music revolved around the 90s more than the first games music did as the music in this game was more rock than midi. My personal favorites were the theme song and Largo LaGrandes theme. I liked this game as much as Monkey Island 1 and believe that it was a revolutionary thing to play back during the early days of PC games. Don't waste time, buy this gem as fast as you can.

Time hasn't been kind to the pixellated screens so those who crave the latest graphics may be disappointed, but for sheer fun and immersion through giving the player much to do and think about, and laugh about, Monkey Island 2 is hard to fault. After playing it for only a few minutes I ceased to be aware of the aging graphics and the lack of voices and became thoroughly absorbed in the puzzles and crazy conversations and the numerous humorous little touches that went into making an absorbing game. I could even remember some of the solutions to puzzles, but there were many that I had completely forgotten. The familiar calypso-style music is still there and all descriptions and comments necessarily appear as on-screen text.

Ron Gilbert’s The Secret of Monkey Island proves that it is possible to make anarchic humors about pirates. The game reinvents the concept of humor in computer games and has since become popular among adventure fans all around the world. Indeed, the debut title of the Monkey Island series not only remains as an all-time favorite in the minds of many adventure gamers, it also stands as a testament that symbolizes Lucasfilm Games as the master of designing adventure game. The sequel, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, is nothing less than the original.

Monkey Island 2 should have a government health warning slapped on the side. This must be one of the most addictive and gripping games I've ever played thanks to the incredible storyline, the stunning cosmetics and abundance of intricacies, not to mention the humour and sheer size of the adventure. I didn't think they'd surpass the original with such ease, but as usual, Lucasfilm have smashed every expectancy barrier. Summing up such a class production is tough but simply, Monkey Island 2 knocks you sideways.

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is that rare thing - an instant classic. Nigh-on faultlessly executed, beautifully written and enchantingly funny, it's a landmark game that really has to be seen - and heard - to be believed. If you think you don't like adventure games (like I did) then Monkey Island 2 is sure to change your mind. What can I say? I'm in love.

The beautifully constructed plot seamlessly combined intricate puzzles with hilarious gags. The graphics and animation are excellent too, with numerous spot effects increasing the laugh count further. You don't even need to have played the first game to be able to enjoy this. And as for that secret, well, it's worth playing the game just to find out.

If you haven’t played MI2, please do. You’ll laugh, you’ll scratch your head trying to figure out where the hell a bucket of mud plays into all the chaos on Scabb Island, you’ll love being a mighty pir–…well, a pirate, and, most of all, you’ll just love Guybrush Threepwood. Screw your silent protagonists like Link, Crono, and that Harvest Moon farmer. Guybrush is a quick-witted guy who will always remind you of the times you failed in life but managed to rise from the ashes and overcome. Or just looked stupid trying. He’s everyone’s favorite loser, and it's a pleasure taking him through his quest to find Big Whoop. Especially when you can finally do to Stan the (now) coffin salesman what you’ve probably always wanted to.

If the puzzles were more logical, I'd rate this game very highly indeed. But alas, puzzles are at the heart of any adventure game, and the opaque nature of the puzzles in Monkey Island 2 really kept me from enjoying the game as much as I wanted to. Nevertheless, hope springs eternal, and I do look forward to trying the third game in the series, The Curse of Monkey Island.

This game as whole is a decent package, but it can't even hold a candle to the brilliance of Monkey Island 1. The creators conveniently ignored the ending of MI2 in The Curse of Monkey Island (MI3), and it's a good thing, too, because the Monkey Island series wouldn't even be worth fighting for if future episodes had to go down the same offbeat road as MI2.
