To conclude then, Monopoly Tycoon is a highly enjoyable and fun gaming experience, offering potentially hours of play. Fans will love the city's visuals, and even the toughest businessman will find challenge in building their empire. A very interesting and entertaining twist on a Monopoly game that still maintains the point and fun of the original.

Even if this game didn’t have the license help, it would be a very good business sim. It’s the first 3D business sim I’ve ever seen and not only does this generate a good looking game, it is easily playable. While it’s not for younger children, like I naively expected, it is a fulfilling and entertaining game. A good bit of fun and strategic planning built into a solid and fluid backbone.

Remember those days sitting around the house as a kid and having nothing to do but play Monopoly with your siblings? I certainly do. Those were some of the most scarring hours of my young life. Indeed, I had many a painful flashback during my time with Monopoly Tycoon, but the fact that this game is fundamentally different from my childhood nemesis made my eyebrows raise in delight (or something like that).

Monopoly Tycoon is a fun game about buying and selling property, building businesses, and managing money. While the game includes a great deal of depth and a significant number of options, some of that complexity is optional, which leaves a basic game that's straightforward enough for almost anyone to play. Fans of Monopoly will appreciate the way Monopoly Tycoon extends the board game into a new and interesting direction, and the game's few minor faults are far outweighed by its strong combination of crisp graphics, involved and varied gameplay, and entertaining premise.

Att säga att Monopoly Tycoon kommer att bli för 2000-talet vad Sim City var för nittiotalet är kanske att ta i, men det råder ingen tvekan om att det här är ett av de mest underhållande spelen i genren; enkelt men samtidigt raffinerat. Men så mycket Monopol är det ju inte fråga om; gatunamnen, chanskorten och profitmöjligheterna i att bygga hotell undantagna. Fast det gör ärligt talat ingenting.

Monopoly Tycoon ist eines der kleinen, aber feinen Wirtschafts-Spielchen, die wir zwischendurch allein oder zu mehreren immer wieder gerne spielen. Gerade an den bevorstehenden, geruhsameren Tagen könnt Ihr Euch, zwischen zwei Portionen des mütterlichen Weihnachtsbratens, bei einer Mission in Monopoly-City die nötige Abwechslung verschaffen. Die benutzerfreundlich Steuerung und die schmucke 3D-Umgebung machen das Spiel von Infogrames zum puren Spaß. Deshalb ist es gerade auch für weniger erfahrene Spieler zu empfehlen. Allein bei der Langzeit-Motivation gibt es Abstriche, da die simple Wirtschafts-Simulation leider zu schnell langweilig wird. Daher ist der Kaufpreis von fast 90 DM eigentlich auch nicht gerechtfertigt.

A well-done program, featuring wonderful animated graphics in a nicely stylized city. This will be an addictive program, holding players’ attention and making them plan strategies. This is not a reflexive game, nor does it rely on luck (in spite of the random ‘chance’ card element). Monopoly Tycoon is a terrific family-style game that, unfortunately, will only allow one player at a time (per computer) to play. But if you enjoy the challenge of Monopoly, the basic game, you will enjoy this variation.

Lange haben wir in unserer PC-Games-Datenbank und in unserem Gedächtnis gekramt, doch das Spielprinzip von Monopoly Tycoon scheint uns bislang noch nicht untergekommen zu sein. Dabei ist es relativ einfach und hätte schon vor Jahren verwirklicht werden können: Man baut Ladengeschäfte, legt Verkaufspreise für Brot, Kinokarten etc. fest und wird zum reichen Mann. Was das mit Monopoly zu tun hat? Nicht viel...Wenn man ein herkömmliches Monopoly-Brettspiel nimmt, von diesem die Spielfiguren und das Rundenprinzip entfernt und die Brettelemente bunt durcheinander würfelt, dann erhält man immerhin schon einmal eine ungefähre Vorstellung vom Aufbau des Spielfelds.

Eindelijk een voorbeeld over hoe het wel kan. Met uitzondering van Risk heeft een bordspel nog nooit zo geslaagd de overstap naar de monitor gemaakt.

Monopoly Tycoon creates an interesting gameplay mix of city planning and profit projections, yet many of the missions in the solo game cut you off before you get the chance to truly stomp on your opponents and take over Atlantic City. If you get into it, Monopoly Tycoon will keep you hooked. It's a solid game that is worth playing, but not to the exclusion of other PC titles.

Kortom: time flies when you're having fun. En dat heb je zeker. Mits je het niet erg vindt om een complete stad te managen. Maar dat hebben we allemaal wel ooit stiekem gewild, toch?

Das Spiel bietet nicht mehr richtig viele Monopoly Elemente, vielmehr geht es darum geschickt mit Immobilien zu handeln und deren Wert zu steigern. Wer hier also ein Computer-Brettspiel erwartet ist fehl am Platz! Eine sehr ausführliche Einführung in das Spiel erleichtert es sich im komplexen Menüsystem zurecht zu finden. Grafisch ist das Spiel recht gut gelungen und trotz 3D Ansicht bleibt die Übersicht erhalten. Monopoly Tycoon ist ein interrasanter Mix, der für Fans des Genres auf jeden Fall einen Blick wert ist!

Meine ersten paar Missionen mit dem Monopoly Tycoon haben mir richtig Spaß gemacht. Die Steuerung flutscht, und die Grafik ist gelungen. Doch sehr schnell hatte ich das Spielkonzept ausgereizt. Danach kam nichts Neues mehr. Dem Bauabschnitt zu Beginn einer Partie folgt eine lange Wartephase, in der sich die Investitionen bezahlt machen müssen. Für ein unkompliziertes Spielchen zwischendurch reicht's allemal, langfristig wird aber zu wenig geboten.

Een goed idee dat echter veel te saai is uitgewerkt. De verveling slaat dan ook zeer snel toe...

Pour résumer, Monopoly Tycoon s'avère plutôt décevant. Malgré le remaniement sympathique des règles qui nous permet d'éviter une énième version soporifique du Monopoly original, le jeu manque d'ambition tant au niveau graphique qu'au niveau de son intérêt un peu trop léger pour oser rivaliser avec Sim City, qui reste donc toujours le maître de la catégorie.

Börjar det inte bli litet larvigt nu? Visst, Rollercoaster Tycoon funkade för att det var en så sjuk idé och för att det genomfördes med ett mått av humor. De tidigare Tycoonerna funkade på grund av att de var seriösa försök att simulera något slags affärsverksamhet, men Monopoly Tycoon verkar mest vara ett försök att simulera någon slags urvattnad version av en fri marknad.
