Собственно, в Myst 3: Exile не то чтобы океанически бурлит жизнь. Это все же ледяной квест, холодная игра пресыщенного разума. Кудесники Presto Studios придерживаются классических стандартов: им не создать, к примеру, приключения на одержимом Востоке, в которое будут играть до потери сознания, несмотря на устаревшую года на три технологию, где ключевое слово -- страсть. Очаровывающий "Пророк и убийца" -- вот вам квест со страстью. Очаровательный Exile -- полное и несомненное торжество рассудка.

This is a wonderful game that extends and improves the original Myst experience. For those who enjoy taking their time, exploring every nook and cranny of imaginary landscapes, and focusing on creativity rather than survival, this is an adventure that should not be missed.

An extremely succesful and balanced adventure, and a worthy sequel in a venerable franchise.

Myst III: Exile (MX) is the first Myst game I’ve played all the way through. I started playing the original on a bet, but lost interest so fast that I’m still trying to remember where I put the CD. There just wasn’t enough to hold my interest. Things like characters and interesting things to do were totally absent. Which is why I approached MX with a dose of cynicism.

Myst III: Exile restores my faith in the adventure games genre. In a sea of blood and violence, Exile is truly a thinking man’s (or woman’s) game. With stunning graphics, superb audio effects, an immersive story and challenging puzzles, Myst III: Exile is the perfect choice for any adventure gamer.

The scenario is very good and has exciting and unexpected twists. Myst III: Exile is a quality product meant only for specific groups of gamers, but it will provide enjoyment to any player who would enjoy a peculiar adventure and some exercise for his little gray cells.

Misschien ben ik bevooroordeeld omdat ik een grote Myst fan ben maar als ik me niet vergis, hebben we hier weer een regelrechte mega-seller.

Myst III: Exile will definitely spark your adventurous spirit and get those gears turning inside your head with each new encounter and challenging puzzle. And when the ride is over you will hopefully have had as much fun playing Exile as the wizards at Presto had making it for you.

Назвать Myst 3 культовой игрой значит допустить большую тактическую ошибку, ибо Presto Studios не сделала и малейшей попытки претендовать на даже хотя бы новое слово в жанре. На четырех дисках с красивым логотипом собраны буквально все находки, что мы имели счастье видеть в Myst, Riven, Journeyman Project и, если хотите, The 7th Guest. К счастью, новинка еще бесконечно далека от деградации до сборника cryoгенных (вариант: wanadooтых) пазл, а радость от решения новой задачки греет душу столь же сильно, как и восемь лет тому назад. Myst в интерпретации Presto Studios по-прежнему остается скорее состоянием души, неким захватывающим ощущением, чем просто игрой, и уже только за это им следует выразить почетную благодарность с занесением.

Myst 3 is an excellent game if you're looking for another game in the Myst series - the game advances the Myst series in almost every way. However, if you didn't like previous Myst games, there's nothing different about this one to change your mind - the game doesn't break out of its' old molds, just evolves them. With that in mind, I can heartily recommend Myst 3 to anyone looking for a game in the genre that Myst itself helped define.

Myst III biedt dezelfde gameplay als zijn voorganger en dat is goed. Er is immers gebleken dat een breed publiek deze toegankelijke vorm van plezier kan waarderen. De lage resolutie en het gebrek aan 3D audio mogelijkheden doen helaas iets af aan de totale spelervaring. Maar het verhaal is diepgaand genoeg om de ijverige speler meer dan voldoende te intrigeren. Het lineaire avontuur is zonder walkthrough met wat semi-normaal denkwerk voor iedereen op te lossen. Hierdoor is Myst III soms wel iets té eenvoudig

Grafiken var något skarpare på PC, och framför allt är det inte lika jobbigt att läsa de många dagboksanteckningarna på en monitor som på en TV. Annars är det bara att konstatera att det här fortfarande är magiskt och fascinerande som få andra äventyrsspel.

Även om Myst III: Exile inte riktigt når upp till sina föregångares nivå, och då framför allt Rivens, är det ett otroligt bra spel. Är du dessutom en av dem som skydde de tidigare spelen då de sades vara helt omöjligt svåra, passa på att prova Myst III: Exile eftersom gåtorna är enklare men fortfarande lika logiska.

Un excellent titre mais qui perd malheureusement de ses qualités en passant sur la console Microsoft. La maniabilité au pad n'est pas des plus agréables et le rendu graphique pas franchement à la hauteur de ce que l'on attendait. Dommage.

Etwas verunsichert war ich ja schon, als bekannt wurde, dass Myst III nicht von Cyan entwickelt wird. Gross war die Erleichterung, als mir nach wenigen Minuten Spielen klar wurde: Myst III – Exile ist ein echtes Myst-Spiel und steht den Vorgängern in nichts nach.Besonders dankbar bin ich den Entwicklern, dass sie sich auf alte Tugenden besonnen haben, sprich Myst statt Riven: Mehrere grundverschiedene, kleinere Zeitalter statt eine einzige, grosse Welt. Die Myst-Saga hat im Laufe der Jahre jedenfalls nichts von ihrer Faszination eingebüsst. Wo bleibt der vierte Teil?

The funny thing here is that, no matter what I say here, millions are going to flock to the store to pick up this newest brainteaser. And while all of us here at the office are probably a little biased as there isn't much gameplay in games such as these, Myst III: Exile will undoubtedly please fans of the series. But on the other side of the coin, the lower difficulty level might be a downer for those that managed to finish Riven. Either way, Presto did a pretty good job with a notable addition to the series.

I’m lousy at solving complicated puzzles. The reason I like adventure games is because they let me poke around in an exotic world, and that’s both the bad news and the good news about Myst III: Exile--the worlds to be explored are breathtakingly beautiful, but the puzzles are very, very hard.

Myst III Exile certainly has allot of excellent high points . . . intriguing story, excellent graphics, simplistic gameplay mechanics. You definately have to have a taste for this style of gameplay, and it will not appeal to everyone, but if you get started into the storyline of the game, you’re hooked!

From a technical and graphical standpoint, Myst 3: Exile breaks no boundaries and fails to be truly impressive. With timid gameplay and puzzles that are either too simple or very difficult, it isn’t an easy game to sit patiently and play. If you can wade through that, you’ll find a rather captivating storyline awaiting you. Although Myst 3: Exile won’t appeal to every game fan, it is a definite must for fans of the series and a worthwhile consideration for others.

Een mooie voortzetting van de Myst serie die helaas niet op alle punten kan overtuigen.

However, there is another part of the gaming world who can’t stand sitting there staring at the same puzzle clues for hours on end and still going nowhere. What it comes down to is how cerebral you want to get with your game. Myst III gives you every chance in the world to feel like you’d make a good MENSA candidate. It’s also improved the game to give you more immediate rewards for solving puzzles instead of making you tramp across an island to see the fruits of your labor. Myst III is a point-and-click puzzler that looks incredibly good. If you’re a Myst fan, you’ll love this. If not, don’t bother.

Da die Entwickler von Presto Studios bewusst auf Altbewährtes gesetzt haben, ist Myst III: Exile solide Adventure-Kost geworden. Mehr aber auch nicht, denn für ein Spitzenspiel wäre mehr Innovation gefragt gewesen. Wie eben damals anno 1994 beim „Urahn" Myst, der vor Neuem nur so strotzte und gleich ein neues Genre kreierte.

Mit beeindruckenden Videosequenzen und mehr als 400 fantasievoll gestalteten Bildern setzt sich auch der dritte Teil des etwas anderen Adventures in Szene. Geschichtlich schließt Myst 3 - Exile an seinen Vorgänger Riven an und behandelt die Intrigen des Volkes D'Ni. Einmal mehr dürfen Sie Rätsel lösen und sich an den realitätsnahen Landschaften ergötzen, die aufgrund der neuen Grafik-Engine mit 360°-Panoramasicht noch ansprechender wirken.

I think consoles are a bad choice for games like Myst and that’s too bad because while this game is good, hardcore console gamers probably won’t want to fit some time in for this puzzle adventure. Decent graphics and superb sound put you right in the middle of an engaging story (which stems all the way from the first Myst), but the horrendous and continuing loading issues will have you severely distracted. If you have $20 (yes, only 20--I imagine to compete with the PC sales) to spare and you love puzzles and you love loading times, then help yourself but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Was kann man schon gegen ein Programm sagen, dessen gesammelte Vorgänger rund 9 Millionen Mal verkauft wurden? Erstaunlich viel. Für ein angeblich so entspannendes Spiel finde ich Myst 3 bemerkenswert nervtötend. Puzzles lösen ist nicht schwer, sie überhaupt finden umso mehr. Nur durch geduldiges Ausprobier-Herumgeklicke kriegen Sie raus, in welchen Richtungen es weitergeht – frohes Verlaufen in bunten Render-Welten. Immerhin: Die Landschaften haben trotz Spar-Auflösung (640 x 480) eine erbauende Schönheit, und die kniffligen Rätsel sind weniger abgedreht als beim frustrierenden Riven. Exile wird Fans der Myst-Serie schmecken, aber mein Fall ist es nicht: zu viel Arbeit, zu wenig Spaß.

Tutaj powinno znaleźć się podsumowanie, ale tym razem w celu wyjaśnienia całego problemu musiało się ono znaleźć na początku. Niestety Myst mnie denerwował, brakowało mi do niego cierpliwości, odpoczywałem od niego czasami tydzień. Ale nasunął mi się taki wniosek: czyż tak samo nie jest właśnie z tym, co najwspanialsze, np. z dzieckiem? Jakkolwiek by traktować tę analogię muszę powiedzieć, że ten Myst to jednak coś w sobie ma...

Myst III: Exile podía haber dado mucho más de sí, si la comparamos con el listón que dejó Riven o incluso Myst. Se hecha en falta unos gráficos más nitidos, sin tanta pixelación y con una resolución más alta.

Det jag faktiskt vet är att fans av de föregående delarna kommer att älska det här, och att titeln kommer att sälja som smör i USA och kanske också i Europa. Det spelar alltså egentligen ingen roll vad jag skriver här. Jag skulle faktiskt kunna skriva om griseknorrar eller sådana där små godisar som är salta utanpå och sura inuti, men jag tror att jag avslutar istället.

If the mere existence of a problem fires your determination to solve it, then the game can be highly entertaining. Because Myst III progresses at the pace at which you solve the puzzles, it lacks any sense of sustained drama or tension, let alone action. Some players will surely find it all rather dull or frustrating. Still, this relaxed pace can be refreshing. Ultimately, what's most impressive about Myst III: Exile is that it combines intellectual challenge with scene after scene of enchanting beauty.

Aside from the slightly new setting (it's not the same island), new plot, and new technology, there is very little new in Exile. It feels much like the same experience as its predecessors except that where Myst broke new ground, Myst 3 is strictly by the numbers. If you enjoy the Myst games, then Exile should be plenty fun, but if you never liked them then Myst 3 is not likely to convert you.

You have to give Ubi Soft credit for releasing Myst III: Exile for the PS2. From a historical perspective, it gives today's gamers a look at what a top-shelf game looked like and played like just ten years ago. Once the novelty wears off and pointing and clicking starts to get old, though, there won't be too many PS2 owners that will be sticking with Exile with so many more exciting titles to choose from.

Wenn ich am PC spiele, will ich mich nicht entspannen: Ich will gefordert werden, Überraschungen erleben, mich amüsieren. Myst 3 aber versetzt mich in eine surreale Welt, die anödet: Alles wirkt steril, auch wenn noch so viele Kamerafahrten Bewegung ins Spiel bringen. Die Rätsel spornen mich nicht zum Denken an: So viele Schalter, so viele Geräte, die sich irgendwie bedienen lassen und die irgendwo irgendwas bewirken - mir macht das keinen Spaß. Ich vermisse den Witz und den Charme, den mir Adventures wie Die Flucht von Monkey Island bieten. Gleichzeitig bin ich mir im Klaren darüber, dass Myst 3 den einen oder anderen ansprechen wird: So starr die Grafik wirkt, sie ist zweifellos hübsch, und wenn im Hintergrund die thematisch perfekte Musik ertönt, entsteht Atmospähre. Die mechanischen Rätsel bleiben weiterhin Geschmackssache.

Verstehe die Myst-Fans wer will, aber was man mit Myst III: Exile Konsolenspielern da zumutet, ist nichts weiter als eine virtuelle Schlaftablette, auch wenn man auf der Xbox wenigstens ohne Kaffeepause durch die hübschen, aber steril und leblos wirkenden Renderkulissen stapfen darf. An der langweiligen Story, den albernen Dialogen und den abstrusen Rätseln führt allerdings kein Weg vorbei und trotz 360°-Blickfreiheit sind Eure Pfade und Interaktionsmöglichkeiten äußerst beschränkt. Was wohl auch daran liegt, dass die einzigsten Gegenstände im Spiel schwer leserliche Schmöker und Fresszettel sind. Um den Spielspaß in Exile zu finden müsst Ihr jedenfalls reichlich esoterisch veranlagt sein, auf zweitklassiges Fantasy-Flair stehen und eine Menge Koffein oder andere Aufputschmittel intus haben, um bei der langweiligen Bücherhatz nicht unvermittelt einzuschlafen und das bisschen Spiel zu finden, das irgendwo hinter der virtuellen Bilderbuchfassade schlummert.

Regardless of the magnificent visuals and outstanding score, Myst III just doesn’t translate well on a console. The game’s extremely slow pacing and absence of action will not appeal to the average gamer looking for entertaining adventure game.

Even though the game reminded me of playing PC games when I was younger, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone. This is not the type of game a console gamer will want to sit through and play to the end, the story might be compelling, but players will not want to actually find out what it is with the antiquated type of gameplay. It is sad to see that a game of this caliber has not made the jump into this generation of gameplay, because with a story as intriguing as this, in a full 3D game, the developers might have a sure fire hit on their hands!

Myst III: Exile is a fine example of conceptual stagnation, an often mind-numbing exercise in tedium that despite grand intentions, feels more like a relic than a new and interesting concept. Like all Myst games, Exile is a game of exploration, puzzle solving and storytelling. In each aspect, the game never breaks its ties to outdated technology sufficiently to be compelling or entertaining.

In all honesty, it wasn't. Take away the surrealistic still images and the enchanting soundtrack and all you had was a point and click slideshow with an occasional remedial puzzle. Truth be told, Myst is no more a videogame than this bottle of Calistoga that sits to my left. It's all about the experience of enjoying great visuals, an ethereal soundtrack, and an hour or two of cheesy FMV acting in a make-believe world. And while that sort of concept may appeal to a broader sect of people than myself, I am almost immovably certain that Myst III: Exile will not appeal to the console audience in the least.

I can't see myself recommending Myst III: Exile to anyone at any time. If you wanted to pick it up for Windows or Mac, chances are that you already have or will (especially now that it's dirt-cheap), and console adventure fans should find it almost worthless. Possible to own only by the remote chance that a cheapskate family member sees it in a bargain bin, it's in your best interest to steer clear of this one and wipe your memory of anything even remotely associated with it.
