Description

In a land far away, an apprentice magician must complete the final test to become a great wizard: escape from an island filled with puzzles using the skills acquired after years of study at the magic school.

Mysteries of Magic Island is a hidden object game with some elements from standard point-and-click adventures. Most of the time, the objective is to find all the items listed on a series of scrolls at the bottom of the screen, on locations filled with assorted paraphernalia scattered around the scenery. Some of the objects collected are stored inside the inventory, to be used later when solving puzzles. The hint button is a crystal ball at the right side of the screen, showing the position of one of the required items when activated, but taking some time to recharge after use.

The inventory is a small pouch at the bottom-right corner, that can be selected to open a tray that reveals its contents. The objects have to be dragged and dropped from the inventory tray at the bottom to an interactive portion of the scenery, to perform an action or complete a task. Four spells are received after finding and activating their runes on corresponding pedestals. The spells are stored in a grid at the top-right corner, from where they can be selected and used when required. There are fire, lightning, water and wind spells to be received at certain points in the game.

Mini-games and other puzzles appear on separate screens, where the player has to unscramble a picture by rotating its circular sections, find pairs of matching objects sitting on a ruined bookshelf, drop potion ingredients from a conveyor belt to a magic cauldron and complete other similar challenges.
