Description

Mystery Case Files: Shadow Lake is a chapter in the Mystery Case Files series. This one begins with a meticulous psychic Cassandra (Lea Thompson) who is a consultant on a low rated reality TV show about ghosts. She requires your assistance in the town of Bitterford Maine which was abandoned many years ago. The player acting in the role of an investigator travels to Bitterford which is vacant and lifeless. You happen upon the cast and crew of the B rated reality TV show as they quickly leave town for some untold reason. You finally find Cassandra and events quickly escalate making it clear that some type of evil still exists here and could overwhelm both of you. Interaction with the psychic Cassandra begins to reveal visions of Bitterford’s mysterious past. It uncovers a strange curse that consumed the town along with spirits that haunt this place. Through cooperation with Cassandra and her psychic ability you will explore key places that help you track down the true past of Bitterford, Maine.

The player interface and game mechanics provide a hybrid approach of graphical adventure with on screen movement touch points, puzzles and hidden-object search style game play. Objects collected in inventory at the bottom of the screen require the player to drop or drag them onto other items in the scenes to activate or complete needed tasks for progression. Hidden objects are somewhat non-traditional where items are found in an area of game play not just a unique scene.
