Myth: The Fallen Lords contributed even more than the venerable Marathon series to Bungie's reputation. Multi-platform, it stretched the boundaries of real-time warplaying games further than Marathon had stretched the boundaries of the first-person shooter - which was quite a stretch. Combining strategy and tactics, adrenaline-pumping action and a compelling story, M:TFL was near perfection.

It would have been easy for Bungie to just leave things alone after Myth: The Fallen Lords. The game was a huge hit, met with critical acclaim at nearly every turn, and continues to be one of the most popular multiplayer games on the Internet. But thankfully for gamers, Bungie went back to the drawing board to craft a bigger, better Myth. Thus was born Myth II: Soulblighter, a game with the untainted heart and soul of its predecessor, along with slicker graphics, better gameplay, enhanced multiplayer options, a vastly improved interface, and a pair of powerful editing tools. Basically, Bungie left no stone unturned in its quest to improve an already solid product. As a result, Myth II is about as good as a computer game can possibly be.

In the end, whether playing single player or multiplayer, Myth II offers the best real-time strategy experience in the industry. It has everything that made Myth one of the best games of last year, plus a free set of steak knives. Like Star Control 2 and Godfather II, Myth II is simply one of the best sequels ever designed.

When you get down to it, Soulblighter is a refinement and extension of Myth. If you played Myth, you'll know whether the sequel is interesting. For those who didn't play Myth, think real-time-strategy. This is not -- in the traditional sense -- a resource management game. While I like network play, I'm interested enough in the solo game that the network problems aren't bothering me too much. I hope they'll have the networking problems I had fixed by the time I finish the campaign, though. I'll give this a cautious thumbs-up, on the expectation that Myth players are interested enough in the solo game and editing tools to wait for the fixes to the net game.

I highly recommend this game to anyone, even those who have never played a RTS game before. Sure, it's very similar to it's predecessor, but Myth was a great game and Myth II breathes enough new life back into this series to qualify as an incredibly fun game with tons of replayability.

The past few years have been quite good to the gaming industry. New technologies have risen that enhance every gamer’s experience. Games have come and gone. But there are a few games who just don’t seem to fade away and hence, become labeled « classics ». I think that Myth II: Soulblighter has what it takes to be this kind of game.

Great fun, especially if you are a fan of the RTS genre. This game gives you the opportunity to be the commander you've always wanted to be, without the hassles of micromanaging SCVs and peons. Good game, excellent graphics (if a bit on the slow side), fun multiplayer, great sound, excellent story-driven missions. All in all, a great game.

All in all, Myth 2:Soulblighter for Linux isn’t just a good Linux port - it’s a damn good game, period, once you get past Linux’s 3D hardware quirks. We recommend it heartily to any Linux user looking for a solid RTS game.

At first glance, Myth II: Soulblighter appears nearly identical to the first game. The gameplay hasn't changed much, apart from the addition of new units and maps. The interface has received a few tweaks (adjusting unit formation and direction are much easier now). The graphics are improved as well with the addition of indigenous life, animated structures, and more frames of animation for the units. Despite the irksome bugs (Bungie claims they are working steadily on a patch), if you enjoyed Myth: The Fallen Lords, you'll enjoy Myth II: Soulblighter. And with the rate at which players are creating new multiplayer maps and variations with Fear and Loathing, the enjoyment should last quite a while.

nur in Details: Es gibt einige hübsche Partikeleffekte,
ein paar zusätzliche Einheiten
sowie eine neue Kampagne. Außerdem
wurde die Physik-Engine ein wenig aufgemöbelt,
weshalb Sie Bäume jetzt auch
abfackeln können. Alle weiteren Änderungen
verschlimmbessern die Steuerung, lassen
sich aber wieder abschalten. Die Grafik
ist nur
noch »gut«; mich stören vor allem die
stark gefilterten Nahsicht-Soldaten.
Nichtsdestotrotz unterscheidet sich Myth 2
wohltuend von den üblichen
C&C-Klonen. Die
gut ausgedachten Missionen verlockten
