Cruis'n USA Accelerates to the Top of Holiday Wish Lists
REDMOND, Wash., December 2, 1996 -- Just in time for the holidays, Nintendo of America introduces the most technologically advanced and fastest racing game yet, Cruis'n USA. Available exclusively for the Nintendo 64 at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $69.95, Cruis'n USA continues the tradition of the popular video arcade game of the same name by bringing incredible graphics, high speed racing courses, and challenging terrain to video game players of all ages.
Cruis'n USA takes players on a frenzied ride across the country from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., at speeds of up to 150 MPH in a one or two-player, split-screen mode. Using texture-mapping to create realistic backgrounds, players experience the wonders of the U.S., from the giant redwood forests of Northern California, to the imposing Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, to the White House in Washington, D.C. Cruis'n USA offers gamers three different driving perspectives, allowing players to catch all the roadside scenery and famous landmarks. Special details of the arcade game are enhanced in the Nintendo 64 version, including hidden cars containing a secret code that appear out of nowhere.

Players have the freedom to customize every cross-country trek by choosing from seven different automobiles -- the '63 Muscle Car, Italia P69, La Bomba, Devastator VI, plus three hidden cars -- as well as 14 completely challenging courses, and five different difficulty levels. Each course contains hidden surprises and rival racers positioned to obstruct the player's view. Using the Nintendo 64 control stick, players have complete control of their automobile, with a full range of motion and angles allowing precision driving performance from the smallest swerve to the tightest turn.
