I enjoyed GGA immensely. If you're a fan of the Ganbare Goemon Series, get out and buy it now. If you're not, rent it, and see if you can handle its wackiness before you decide to buy it. The only flaws I can see is the absence of the Japanese vocal tracks, and maybe a few more worlds would have been nice. But still, GGA is an innovative, enjoyable game. I love you Konami.

Goemon's Great Adventure följer i stort sett standardmallen för plattformsäventyr. Trist tycker somliga. Andra kallas det kvalitet.

All told, this game throws five areas at you, each broken up into several levels, and it's enough to hold any old-schooler for quite a while. If you're more accustomed to 3D fun, this might not be for you, but I say fun is fun. Now, if only more companies would start coming around.

Nintendo Life
While there’s arguably a slight spark of magic missing in comparison with its simply enchanting predecessor Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, this is still undoubtedly a great game in its own right. Providing a brilliantly entertaining combination of colourful visuals, great level design, crazy characters, fast-paced platforming action, a wonderfully upbeat and diverse soundtrack and the added bonus of a co-op mode, Goemon's Great Adventure is essential for anyone searching for a more traditional platforming experience on their N64 – just don’t expect an easy ride!

IGN
Points off for editing all the cool songs out of the US version, but Goemon's Great Adventure still emerges as Konami's best Goemon game since Goemon 2 and the translation is much more faithful than Mystical Ninja and co. A funny, addictive co-op adventure that every 2D platform game fan should add to his collection.

Nintendo Power Magazine
Fans of Japanese animation and diehard Goemon backers, are due for a treat. Yes, the story is a weird mix of sci-fi, Japanese culture and superheroes, but it seems perfectly suited to the game. And the game game is full of action and variety, Finally, a sidescroller done right on the N64.

GamePro (US)
The game is set up in a pseudo-non-linear fashion. After you clear an area once, you can go to Lost'n Town and receive a quest to return to on old area and find certain items or defeat certain enemies under a certain time limit. This goes a long way toward replay value, but you're still playing the same levels over and over, and that gets old quick.

After several bouts of cursing and sobbing, I have successfully completed Goemon's Great Adventure. I have determined that the adventure was not, in fact, as great as I had imagined. The cartridge has now returned safely to my shelf, where I shall never touch it again, except for moving day and shelf vacuuming day.
