Harvest Moon 64 is an underrated masterpiece. A wide variety of character events, a deep marriage system, and an addicting lifestyle all make this as good as it gets, adding up to easily over sixty hours of fun. As in all simulations, everyday chores have the potential to get repetitive. Harvest Moon 64's many features and fun tasks make everyday chores fresh every time you do them. There are plenty of things to keep you busy and the best part is that the game continues even after you complete the three year trial. So you can continue enjoying the festivals, making money, and watching characters change and evolve. Choices are the foundation of Harvest Moon 64, just like in any other open ended role-playing title. The choices you make create a personal experience that doesn't get boring like most of its competition. An experience that you will remember for a long time.

One of the best games I've ever played. I give it a 92%.

Being a sprite heavy games lets the N64 keep this title in its library of "Only for N64". Although this may be looked down upon by some gamers its something we Nintendo64 owners can keep our heads high about and just keep waiting for the next great game like Harvest Moon 64. With the N64 being killed by Dreamcast and Playstation this is the kind of title it needs. The question is will anyone notice it? Probably not. Will you notice? You should I highly recommend this game.

It's a rare occasion nowadays that a game with such simple graphics would even make it to store shelves, but Harvest Moon as that rare quality of being totally engaging and challenging. I was able to forgive a lot of the shortcomings like poor audio and visual elements because I found myself playing it for hours at a time. The RPG-style elements of figuring out what the heck you're supposed to do next is always fun and Harvest Moon gives N64 owners a nice taste of that genre. If you want a game that's a change of pace from everything else available on the console definitely check it out. If you want to make sure this game works for you by renting it first, be prepared to stay up for a few days straight.

Hey, bottom line, the N64's line up is so weak right now you really don't have a choice. This game is one of the few quality titles to come out in the last month. It's fresh, it's different and it's captivating. You'll enjoy it in a strange way. Kind of like how watching the TV show "Cops" is so strangely addictive. I wouldn't suggest a rent here because this game really takes time to get into. But if you really aren't sure, you can rent it for a while and check it out. Harvest Moon 64 is a great title because it's so fresh and captivating. These two elements are so strong that you actually can overlook the sorry graphics and weak sound. Check this game out and get planting baby!!

There are several areas in Harvest Moon 64 that could stand improvement. The soundtrack is made up of only a few basic songs that you'll hear more than you'd prefer. Buildings drop out of the world when you visit an area where several structures appear onscreen at once. And you'll wish it were easier to line up your character with the plants when you're out watering the crops. But these problems don't do too much to get in the way of the game's charm though, since it's not the type of title that you expect a lot of flash and bang from. Though admittedly not for everyone, Harvest Moon 64 is a strangely compelling, original little game that makes hours melt away incomprehensibly.

All in all, the game is quite enjoyable. It does take a certain type of person to appreciate the game, as most people may become bored quickly. The Harvest Moon series should not be overlooked, and the Nintendo 64 version is one of the better that are available.

You'll get the chance to help build bridges, race dogs and horses, and pitch woo among other things. The real-time elements of the game keep the pace hopping as well. The game really encourages you to set goals and stick to schedules to keep things running smoothly without trying to stick you in a rut. Harvest Moon 64 does have some technical downsides to it, however, so you may just want to give the Nintendo 64 a rest and fire up your Game Boy -- all in all, that version is generally considered more stable.
