Więc co? Ojciec, grać? Grać, a najlepiej z dziewczyną. Badania laboratoryjne przeprowadzone przez Joela i spółkę wskazują, iż płeć ukochańsza wykazuje bardzo wysokie zainteresowanie produktem. Powodzeniem cieszą się głównie postacie Maria i Yoshiego, zaś same (uśrednione) umiejętności określiłbym mianem: MIZERNE. Dać im szansę! Dać im szansę! Dać im szansę!

Assigning an overall rating to this game is a tough task. The strictly rational side of me wants to concentrate on its numerous and obvious flaws, and penalize it accordingly. And yet, I’ve had more fun with this game over the past decade plus than 95 percent of the games I’ve ever played. It’s my favorite game in the series, and among my favorite of all-time. When all is said and done, Kart 64 drags itself through the mud and still manages to come out golden. On a hundred-point scale, I find myself placing it somewhere between a 90 and a 100. On a true ten-point scale, I just can’t justify not rounding up.

Mario Kart 64 is a must buy and a must play. If you've experienced Super Mario Kart on the SNES, this game will feel like a grand homecoming. New players of all skill levels will instantly pick up on the fun. Get ready, get set, get going with Mario Kart 64.

Speaking of SNES purists, they will be the only ones who will find some serious grumbles with this game. Mario Kart 64 has some differences in it's style to Super Mario Kart; there are no more coins to collect, far less booster strips, slightly different weapons, much lighter subtelties between drivers and and overall more easygoing challenge. Wether this makes Mario Kart 64 better or worse than it's prequel is a different story, which is also of little relevance here. It's still Mario Kart, albeit with a slightly different flair to it. And whatever way you look at it, this is a huge dose of pure, frantic and hilarious fun. It's a game you will be coming back to for years on end, just because the multiplayer mode's fun and thrills almost never fade away. An essential buy.
It's a pleasure to play this it again and again. Another winner comes to the Nintendo 64 direct from Nintendo. When a game is this good, where can I start? Since I only have one gripe, I'll start there. I really wanted more battle tracks. If there were at least two or three more, I'd be more pleased (let's hope for secret tracks!). Other than that, the game was perfect. The graphics were flawless and the sound fits the game nicely --- both in effects and music. All of the different modes make for even more replay value even though it already has plenty. The characters are good choices as well. Need I say it --- Mario Kart 64 rocks!

I spent many a lengthy starry night salivating over my Nintendo 64 controller while playing this game until upwards of 6:00AM, and although in retrospect I realize that this was probably not the wisest decision from a sleep perspective, it didn't really matter at the time. All the shortcomings that the game may have had simply disappeared, being replaced by utter enjoyment. The company of fellow gamers, the anticipation of a blue shell entering your inventory, the sweat off your brow as you cross the finish line in first place... That's really what Mario Kart 64 is all about. This is the thrill that I wish to pass on to all of you!
Even with its battle mode deficiency, though, Mario Kart 64 is a great game. The match races are in some ways better than ever, and it’s amazing how much depth the cornering trick and new items add to the game. About the only things missing this time around are the feather and Koopa Troopa, and those are sacrifices I’m ready to make when the end product turns out so fantastic as this one did. Missing out on a game this good should be a crime!

This title is far more controversial than its SNES brother. We love it, but if you were brought up into the SNES era and owned Super Mario Kart you may be upset to find how much the gameplay has changed. Still well worth a buy though.

Although it doesn't break any new grounds in originality (like Mario 64), Mario Kart 64 is a great addition to the N64 line-up. The solid graphics, good sound, and addictive gameplay--coupled with features like being able to race yourself (from a former race) in a special ghost mode--make you want to play it forever. If you primarily race alone, Wave Race 64 would be the game of choice. Otherwise, Mario Kart 64 is a must-have. The only draw-back is that you'll be speaking with Italian accents before long... And now leta me go-e, I have an appointmente witha three verry, verry deade people.
The trouble with making definitive games like Super Mario Kart is you have to be pretty damn remarkable with any kind of a sequel. Although I found Mario Kart 64 to be eminently playable, I just couldn't shake the feeling that it was a knock off of the first game. Nintendo gave us our minimum expectations with Mario Kart 64. Normally that would be fine but in a world where Super Mario 64 and Wave Race 64 can rest in our game libraries, producing the minimum is just not going to take home the trophy. Frankly, that's exactly what I expected Mario Kart 64 to do.
Gaming Age (Sep 19, 2004)
A weak one player game, Mario Kart 64 excels in the multiplayer arena, and that alone is worth the cost of admission. Few titles can come close to this one in terms of party games.
Video Games (Apr, 1997)

Despite the fact that Mario Kart 64 doesn't quite compare to the original, it's nevertheless one of the best racing games for the system. The good still far outweighs the bad. And you'll eventually learn that you can fight cheapness with cheapness of your own. You may find that races turn into a chess match of sorts, as you take advantage of cheating techniques. Another classic from Nintendo.
Edge (Feb, 1997)
Four and a half years ago, Super Mario Kart revolutionised the racing game. Eschewing the desperately hip supercars and global tourist sites then in vogue, it was instead set in the familiar environs of the Mario universe with its own unique brand of cartoon cheeriness. The resultant racing was way ahead of any of its 16bit rivals. In short it was classic Nintendo, classic Miyamoto.
In conclusion, if you don't already have a Mario Kart game somewhere in your collection and you have an N64, Mario Kart 64 is a game well worth picking up, whether in its original cartridge form or on the Wii Virtual Console. Ten years later, it isn't as great as Mario Kart DS, but it may be worth a significant amount of time nonetheless.
The Video Game Critic (Jul 30, 2000)
Unfortunately, the AI leaves something to be desired because Mario Kart 64 seems intent on keeping all of the races artificially close! And don't you think that special shell that goes after the leader is just a little bit unfair? A few of the tracks are too long, and that rainbow track is just plain boring. Personally I prefer Diddy Kong Racing over this.
Game Revolution (Jun 06, 2004)
So the graphics are pretty good, the controls are easy, the action is fast paced: what's the problem, you ask? Simply put, the game feels pretty bubblegummy. It goes from "cute" to "puke" in a matter of minutes. Perhaps I'm spoiled, as I've recently had the honor of experiencing the far-and-away best game for the N64 right now, the amazing Turok. Mario Kart 64 is really just a souped up version of the SNES game with added graphical power. No new ground is broken, or even scraped.
GameSpot (Feb 06, 1997)
If you own a Nintendo 64, you're probably going to buy this game whether or not you read and heed this review - after all, there aren't really a lot of N64 games to choose from, and it IS a Mario title. Fair enough. The thing is, even with all its bells and whistles, Mario Kart 64 is very likely to disappoint you after about a week. I wouldn't feel right about not giving you that warning. That said, I'm off to Mario Kart on my SNES to reminisce about the good old days, and dream of what this cartridge could have been.
