One last comment. The fact that a third party is getting advertising in this game under the guise of an "NBA on TNT" logo, combined with the cupidity (look it up--it ain't a compliment) of NBA players that prevents them from being represented in a video game says quite a bit about the industry. Games have come a long way from the days of One on One, the first game to use actual sports figures. Playing NBA Live 99 is eerily close to the real thing. Is Michael Jordan really just plain greedy, or is he scared that he'll eventually become irrelevant?
Gaming Entertainment Monthly
Overall I would have to say that NBA Live '99 is the best basketball game for the N64 and probably on every other platform also. Once again EA has provided gamers with the most up to date and most entertaining basketball game that anyone has ever seen and they have done it in true EA style.
If you look past the choppy graphics, Live is a fun basketball game that leaves NBA Courtside in the dust with faster gameplay, more exciting dunks, and more features. Unfortunately, there is no question about which version of Live is best. To be brutally honest, if you have a PC or PSX, forget about the N64 version and get the real NBA Live 99. If you only have an N64, Live is in my opinion the best basketball game yet, especially with four players. Could be a little more challenging in the one-player mode, though.
NBA Live 99 has enough options and tweaks to allow anyone to play it. New players can pick it up, learn a couple of buttons, and do reasonably well against the computer, while longtime fans of Live can pick this one up and fall right into their old ways. The NBA season may be in jeopardy, but Live is open for business and always ready for a game.

The play control and overall graphic appeal should result in lots of happy NBA Live '99 owners. It does seem to be lacking a sense of excitement, though, possibly due to the uninspired sound track. I'm still waiting for the definitive hoops game for the N64, but this one is pretty solid.
