The Next Level
What are you waiting for? It's not every day that the Nintendo 64 gets RPGs, let alone ones that are as splendid as Paper Mario. Packed with challenge and charm, one can't go wrong purchasing Mario's latest adventure.

Nintendo Land
Here it is, the Nintendo 64's first true RPG, Paper Mario. This is not only an RPG, but it's also a platformer. This is the sequel to the Super NES hit, Super Mario RPG. This game has 2D characters in a 3D world, which are opposite to the graphics used in Yoshi's Story. The reason the game got it's name is because all the characters are as thin as paper. The graphics may seem kiddy, but it's the gameplay that makes the game fun.

As a Mario title, Mario Story is the ultimate homage to the Mario universe, and quite frankly it's hard to imagine the game being any better than this. Let's hope Nintendo will make a Gamecube version that will be even bigger and better.

In conclusion, if you’ve never tried an RPG before, Paper Mario is just the game that will get you into the ever-popular genre, and if you’re already an RPG fan, than Paper Mario will be a great addition to your ever-growing RPG library.

Paper Mario truly is a strong addition to the Mario franchise we've come to know and love. With its light-hearted plot, loveable characters, innovative gameplay and perfectly fitting music, this game should appeal to anyone and everyone. Sure, it's aimed slightly at a younger audience, but that's easy to overlook in such a wonderful game. Fans of Super Mario RPG will surely love Paper Mario, as will nearly anyone else.

Considering the amount of time between the end of the N64 and the 'Cube, it's a good thing this is such a long adventure. This is absolutely a quality title and you'd be remiss to miss it. Enjoy.

Electric Playground
Yeah, Paper Mario has more sugar than most children’s breakfast cereals and it lacks the movies found in many role-playing games. What it does have is a great story, fun puzzles, and epic battles. Any RPG fan would be absolutely nuts to pass on Paper Mario.

GameSpot
With stunning graphics, excellent sound, and extremely solid gameplay, Paper Mario is a quality game on all fronts. The sprite-based graphics combined with classic Mario gameplay make this a must-own for any Mario lover, and the simplified RPG system makes this a compelling game for both RPG fans and non-fans alike. Games of this caliber are few and far between, and it's too bad that Paper Mario might be the last great 2D Mario game.

Gamer's Pulse
Every aspect of PM works to create an excellent experience. It puts an innovative graphical style, outstanding audio, and excellent gameplay in one package. The end result is a vastly superior product. If there is a knock on the game, it is that it seems to be directed at a younger audience. Children will enjoy the cartoonish graphics, lack of complex statistics, and relative ease. More experienced RPG gamers might be annoyed by these aspects, but it is a worthy purchase for anyone who wants to have an old-fashioned good time.

Si no tuvistéis la oportunidad de disfrutar de este título, os recomendamos encarecidamente que os hagáis con él, aunque ya no sea tarea fácil, aunque siempre podréis probar su secuela, aparecida hace unos meses para Gamecube.

Gaming Age
There's so much to enjoy in this game that I really can't find anything to dislike. Some may find the cutesy graphics a turn-off, but anyone that actually plays the game for more than an hour will be hooked. The game isn't too high on the challenge level, but the quest will take a long time to complete, especially when compared to Mario RPG. If you like Mario games; if you like RPGs; if you like playing fun games; you simply must purchase this game. Don't let the graphics fool you! This game is a blast for all ages.

It really is a difficult task for a team of game makers to follow on from what was already a brilliant game, but Intelligent Systems did just that. Taking their vast amount of previous experience, it built upon the Nintendo-Squaresoft foundation and made tweaks to the gameplay and length that move the series from entry-level role-playing to out-and-out RPG heaven, but still without the heavy statistics. Want a fun, but not too brief RPG adventure? Get this, get it now!

With an engaging battle system, charming visuals, and references that will make any Mario fan giddy, it is hard to fault Paper Mario at all. Nintendo 64 owners can finally rejoice. Not only do they have a fantastic role-playing title now, but they also have one of the most delightful games of this generation. Everything -- from the comical sound effects to the hilarious one-liners to the cartoon paper graphics -- coexists wonderfully to create a feel-good, easy-going environment, and that’s part of Paper Mario’s charm: it never takes itself too seriously.

Considering the closest Miyamoto has ever gone to RPG himself was the Zelda games, Paper Mario is a very well-made game. A worthy psqeudo-sequel to Mario RPG, it succeeds in being easy enough for beginners and hard enough for the challenge-seekers. Certainly it does a good job in keeping the charm that the original SNES game created for itself. And that, in itself, is a pleasant surprise, indeed.

IGN
Paper Mario is the best RPG for Nintendo 64, and moreover, a great entry into the genre versus any system. While the cute, simplified look of the game and its similarly colorful mascot characters may turn off those looking for a Final Fantasy killer, it'd be a huge mistake to pass this title up for that reason alone. For underneath its 2D surface, Paper Mario is a fantastically deep, intuitively designed, and wonderfully rewarding experience complete with enhanced takes on old-school turn-based fighting mechanics and a statistic system that would satisfy any RPG fanatic. A must buy for Mario fans and RPG lovers alike. And if you've never played an RPG before, this is the perfect one to start with.

Still, Paper Mario is a fun game and stands head and shoulders above most of the dreck the N64 offers these days. Though it gets a bit cute at times, most gamers should find hours of satisfaction in Mario's homecoming. Let's just hope he doesn't let it get to his head...the last thing we need is Mario eating too many mushrooms and singing about LSD, like Captain Kirk...

If you need a decent Mario fix and can't wait for the GameCube, you should look into this. It's a surprisingly well-made RPG for a system that's been barren right up to the end. Just make sure that you don't need a good plot and you'll be fine. It might not be a must-have game, but you could do a lot worse.

The Nintendo 64 has catered almost exclusively to the younger generation, with a few notable exceptions, but they are now growing up. As the Game Boy Advance and the GameCube releases draw closer, Nintendo must induct these young players into the RPG community. Paper Mario serves this purpose very well. With all the Badges and helper abilities open for Mario to use, the game goes a long way to develop the problem solving abilities of the younger gamer. For the older, more experienced RPGamers, Paper Mario is a light, refreshing change from the norm, but can easily be completed in a rental period.

"Paper Mario" has a solid blend of classic platform gamer action; its RPG adventure and story elements create a worthwhile game. Too bad it only took Nintendo five years to get a worthwhile RPG on its platform.

Despite the current slim pickings for the N64, Paper Mario is a great buy and should hold you over until Nintendo's new system arrives, it's a great adventure that all ages will have fun with.

All Game Guide
In the end, Paper Mario is the sort of game Nintendo is so well-known for -- it's cute, it's charming, and most of all, it's a lot of fun. Great game design, hilarious character dialog, and that trademark Nintendo quality make this one title no one should be without.

My first impression of Paper Mario wasn't at all good. I played the game for about three hours, and hated it because it wasn't Super Mario RPG. I decided to give it another try this month mainly so I could beat it, and thus review it, and thus profess an entirely unpopular opinion. But alas, it just wasn't to be. Paper Mario is no Super Mario RPG, but considering its competition is friggin' Quest 64, it's one of the best RPGs available for Nintendo 64. I received mine as a trade for Duke Nukem 64, and while I'm not sure I came out better for it, I still say that Paper Mario is still worth whatever Duke Nukem costs today, if not more.
