Rush 2 doesn't feature the best graphics known to man, but its overall look certainly gets the job done. Same goes for sound. What it does excel at, though, is finely tuned gameplay. The physics engine, admittedly wacky, is an absolutely joy to toy around with whether it be exploring or straight-forward racing. I only wish Atari had focused less on improving the series' racing element for standard tracks and more on the crazy trick goodness that is Rush. In the long run, I feel the standard tracks of San Francisco Rush are superior to those found in Rush 2. That said, the Stunt Track alone makes Rush 2 just as good if not better than San Francisco Rush. Nice job Atari. Highly recommended, especially if you're a fan of the series.

There is so much to do in Rush 2, you'll need a lot of time to play it. I feel it is one of the best racing games out there. I strongly recommend it.

In terms of audio, the music has an old-school "gangsta" vibe that I dig, but the occasional sound effects like birds chirping in the park sound positively fake. When you hear that crowd roar, it's hard to tell if they're cheering or screaming in horror. Rush 2 has its flaws, but if you're looking for arcade racing on the N64, this one should do the trick.

Game Revolution
Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Trying to cash in on its popular San Francisco Rush arcade hit, Midway has released Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA. If you remember, the original SF Rush for the N64 wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't great either for a first-generation racer. Rush 2 stinks up the joint pretty bad. It's basically the same thing as SF Rush with a few tweaks here and there. Same type of gameplay, same boring graphics.
