In a rare instance of a sequel improving on nearly every aspect of the original game, Rush 2049 stands out as an exceptional example of a solid franchise being raised a notch, and what a notch it is! Improved graphics, lighting, textures, sound, menus, cars, options and multiplayer modes make this more than just a sequel. In fact, the thrill-packed stunt mode alone is worth the cost of admission. Never has a Rush game looked or felt so good on the N64, and with all it has going for it, you'd be silly not to rush to the store for this one. A must-own for fans of high-flying action and unbelievable stunts.
Rush games have always offered a huge amount of replay value, and this title is no exception. There are tons of things to unlock such as cars, tracks and parts to customize your car. The stunt mode is extremely addictive, and the multi player battles are intense, even exploring the levels and finding all the shortcuts and coins could take hours at a time. This will easily keep you playing for a long time.
But if you've come to stunt or to battle then you've come to the right place because San Francisco Rush 2049 is easily the best of the series and, now, one of the most recommended titles you can buy for your Nintendo 64. Rush fanatics everywhere -- no worries here, Midway Games West has delivered.
It need not be repeated that Rush 2049 is quite an arcade racer. With a multitude of elements that let it transcend that narrow and often underrated genre, racing fans and those simply seeking a wild, entertaining experience would do well to check it out.
