The survival of the species is at stake in Blizzard Entertainment's chart topping sci-fi epic.

The Koprulu Sector, 24th century A.D. Terrans (humans marooned 60,000 light years from earth when a bizarre plan to colonize space goes hideously awry) are in a state of near-perpetual war. But the sudden invasion by not one but two suprahuman species forces them to set aside their bitter differences and join forces in a brutal fight for survival against the Zerg and the Protoss.

Since its release in 1998, StarCraft has been a best-selling PC game. For this, the only console version of StarCraft, developer Mass Media (under the close guidance of the original StarCraft creators at Blizzard) is including all the missions from the original StarCraft, plus all the missions from the Brood Wars expansion pack, plus all-new missions, plus multiplayer missions. In all, StarCraft 64 will feature 60 missions.

StarCraft 64 pits three implacable foes against each other in a truly epic struggle for domination. You can play as the Terrans, the rapacious Zerg or the technologically advanced Protoss.

Each species mines precious Mineral crystals, the building blocks of starships, vehicles and armor, and obtain energy from geysers spewing Vespene gas. Beyond the basics of extracting resources, though, each race has distinct ways of building and organizing new forces and attacking. All share one goal, though: annihilating its enemies.

Far more than a series of simple search-and-destroy sorties, StarCraft 64 challenges players to erect and defend structures, build and deploy weapons and vehicles, train troops, research new technologies, repair damaged structures, scout enemy terrain, marshal forces and launch attacks and counterattacks.

All action takes place in real time, which means you won't have the RPGer's luxury of carefully considering your next move while the rival race waits patiently for its turn. Like a true general, if you don't think on your feet, you won't think at all.

Although Starcraft 64 is playable without the N64 Expansion Pak, you'll need it to play the Brood War missions as well as the two player split screen game.
