Napoleon Solitaire
Description
Napoleon Solitaire is a shareware solitaire suite containing twenty-one variations on Forty Thieves solitaire also known as Napoleon at St Helena, Roosevelt, San Juan.
The basic game is played with two decks of cards. It has eight foundations where cards are built upwards by suit from ace to king and ten stacks of four cards ( this is where the forty thieves name originates.
The variations here are; Forty Thieves, Little Napoleon, Diplomat, Josephine, Rank and File, Number Ten, Congress, Indian, Maria, Midshipman, Limited, Blind Alleys, Single Rail, Little Forty, Waterloo, Corona, Australian Patience, Double Rail, Giant, Napoleon’s Square & Blockade. Forty Thieves requires a screen resolution of 800x600, the remainder play in a resolution of 600x480.
The suite has a choice of card back, choice of background, game statistics, undo/redo and save game options. The package also includes the Napoleon Solitaire Game Wizard whereby custom games can be created, user created games do not appear in the game's menu, they are created and accessed via the game wizard.
The shareware version was available for a thirty day trial period after which the player was required to register, when registering the player could request a version of the game without the shareware nag screen, these were shipped on floppy disc for a nominal fee.
