NASCAR 99

Overall I thought NASCAR '99 is a very enjoyable game that deserves more attention because if you actually sit there and play NASCAR '99 I think that you will actually consider it one of the best racing games for the N64.

This cartridge is worth buying if you love professional race car driving. It's also worth renting if you would like to try a different racing game (there are a few). If you are looking for unearthly jumps or more of a science fiction storyline, this isn't the game for you, but if you have dreams of being on the circuit some day or you just have too many dependents to justify driving 200 mph, it is a good time.

It is my opinion that Nascar is a thrilling racing spectacle in which I appreciate each and every drivers skillful control of high powered vehicles at breakneck speeds requiring sharp reactions and nerves of steel. I admire the endless hours that are taken by engineers to ensure that the vehicles peak at just the right time. How tyre manufacturers invest millions on discovering the perfect grip for each individual track. However, as a racing 'game'... well... to be truthful 500 laps of an oval circuit sucks.

Overall, NASCAR 99's numerous options make it the most authentic NASCAR game to date. Unfortunately, EA didn't dramatically improve the game's graphics and sound effects from last year's title.

Deze nieuwe editie van het Nascar-seizoen kent in vergelijking tot zijn redelijk succesvolle voorganger vrij weinig verbeteringen. Persoonlijk sloeg bij mij de verveling al vrij snel toe, daar de echte aktie door de simpele parcours vaak ver te zoeken was. Aangezien de ontwikkelingen in dit genre het afgelopen jaar redelijk snel gegaan zijn, en de graphics en speelbaarheid niet al te veel verbeteringen kennen ten opzichte van de '98-editie, is dit dan ook een game voor diegenen die echt op de hoogte zijn van het Nascar-gebeuren. Mensen die hier niet in thuis zijn, raad ik dan ook aan om lekker voor een Formule 1 of andersoortige racer te gaan.
