EA's stylish street baller bounces back with some all new tricks, including online play.

Loaded with NBA greats of the past and present, jam-packed with gravity-defying special
moves, and bristling with attitude, EA Sports BIG's riotous take on basketball makes a
    triumphant return to PS2.

NBA Street V3 takes the fast and frantic three-on-three action to unprecedented heights
with new customisation options, fresh new moves, and, for the first time in the series,
online play. Customise your baller, build your own courts, and make your mark on the
street, then test your reputation against other players online.

Control on the court is tighter than ever, thanks to the new Trick Stick. Use the right analog
stick in conjunction with the various turbo buttons to execute over 40
opponent-confounding dribble moves. String together enough tricks and you'll be able to
pull off one of the game's showstopping and newly interactive 'Gamebreaker' moves.

Choosing just three street stars is tougher than ever, with all the top stars from each NBA
team, plus 25 NBA Legends and a number of past favourite NBA Street characters all
vying to be picked. Customisation options, including hairstyles, gear and accessories, let
you tweak your team's appearance to your heart's desire.

Both online and off, there's a stunning array of courts to strut your funky stuff in, including
Rucker Park, Venice Beach, Mosswood, and Brighton Beach.

    • Rule the court with new customisable Gamebreakers

    • Perform an array of massive moves using the Trick Stick

    • Throw down the gauntlet and prove your balling skills online

    Slammin' good time

Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach take on the NBA's best in NBA Street V3.

How big is NBA Street V3? Not only does it features today’s biggest NBA stars, a collection of the league's all-time greats, a Hall of Fame cast of past NBA Street characters, but -- in a GCN exclusive -- three Mushroom Kingdom ballers.

    Features
    • 500,000 dunk combinations
    • Court creator
    • More than 1,000 personalized items including shoes and jerseys
    • Extensive player creation and customization
    • Trick Stick

You don't need to unlock Nintendo's triple threat. Mario, Luigi and Peach are playable from the first jump ball. The Mushroom Kingdom's best may be small in stature, but their big on ups. Luigi stands out as the defensive master and rebounding genius. Peach drains the three with silky smooth style, and Mario's a triple-double waiting to happen. Of course, they can all sail above the rim and deposit the rock in a high-yield hoop account. For a serious pop-culture clash, unleash 'em on the Beastie Boys, who bring their own unique moves to the blacktop.

On NBA Street V3 blacktop, it's all about style. Anyone can stuff the ball through the hoop, but the one who can do it with flare gets the respect. Use the C Stick (known as the Trick Stick) to show off your ball handling moves and then go in for the jam. The more moves you can combo, the higher the skill points you earn. As you gain skill points, the Gamebreaker meter fills up. You can activate the Gamebreaker to show off your dunking skills with a bevy of freestyling moves. When you score using the Gamebreaker, you not only score points, you deduct points from the opposing team.

NBA Street V3 features so many dunk styles that EA claims you can make 500,000 combinations. Not all at once, of course. Use any combo to build a dunk of your own and package it with a gravity-defying mid-air maneuver.

After perfecting your slams, muscle your way to the dunk contest. Impress NBA Street legend Stretch, Dr. J and a guest NBA judge to take home the jam crown. Put a soda machine, dumpster or other prop on the court and use your imagination to come up with the most creative dunks possible. A creativity meter fills as you demonstrate your levitating stuff. Maximize the creativity and your combo score to bask in the roar of the crowd. Miss the dunk, however, and the boo birds come out in force. Can you get a perfect score of 30?

As in most of EA's Street games, customization gets courtside seats. NBA Street V3 offers several ways for you to make your mark, including creating your own player, court and shoe. After you create your character, spruce up your player with gear from the V3 store or get clipped at the barbershop. Don't forget that your video game baller is an extension of yourself, only taller.

You can customize a court, too, including hoops, backboards, surface and logos. You can even choose cracked asphalt. Now that's street-authentic.

EA worked overtime on each court's lighting and graphics. The effects look so natural that you wouldn't notice them at first glance. When you take a second look, you see the perfect shadows from the trees and players, the dimness of an ancient high-school gym and the sun's glare reflecting off of the court. Impressive detail adds to NBA Street V3's impressiveness.

    Bottom Line

Even without the Mushroom Kingdom trio, this game would be as cool as the other side of the pillow (or other sports cliches for greatness).
