At the event "GameStar/GamePro Leserpreis 2005" (February 2004) Need for Speed Underground 2 received the trophies "Best PC Sports Game in 2004" and "Best Console Sports Game in 2004" after the reader's voting of German gaming magazines GameStar (PC) and GamePro (consoles).

In early August 2006, EA closed their servers for multiplayer games, for the Xbox, and Windows (demo) versions. The PS2 and Windows servers were closed on 1st November 2007.
