Bases Loaded is a baseball action game for one or two players featuring a large variety of options and realistic graphics and sound. You can select from twelve different teams and choose a lineup for each team. Each team has 30 players with different characteristics to learn. During gameplay you can control all of the positions in the field and pitch everything from a fast ball to curve ball. When at bat you can try to hit a homerun, bunt, or steal bases. Play can be a single game or a complete pennant.

Two U.S. cartridge variants are known to exist, one with "JALECO" in blue text on the end label, one with "JALECO" in orange text.

Up on the scoreboard you may have noticed the words "Yuk, Dum, Boo, Bum" appear in the lower left corner. "Yuk" is the name of the home plate umpire. "Dum" is the first base ump. "Boo" is the second base ump. And "Bum" is the third base ump. In the original Japanese version, the umpires' names are those of the TOSE programmers that created this game - at home plate, programmer Tetsuji Tanaka, at first base, sound composer Akihito Hayashi, at second base, sound composer Kouji Murata, and at third base, graphic designer Nobukazu Ōta.
