Summary

Fight ruthless aliens... in a modern jetfighter?

The Good

This is an enjoyable action/flying/shooting game though I must admit it confused me somewhat. Typically, when aliens invade our home planet, the lone hero gets to strap into some futuristic, space-age, fighting vehicle. But this game puts you squarely into a modern-looking jetfighter for your solitary struggle against the big bad aliens.

What makes this game most unique is the playing perspectives. Some of the levels are played from a top-down view where your jet can maneuver up and down as well as left to right. The other levels are more of first-person (or first-jet) perspective as the camera sits behind the jet and you control the action to dodge enemies or shoot them down. It's a different gameplay style and in this case, different is definitely better.

The Bad

Why exactly must the player purchase weapons to rid the planet of killer aliens? You would think that humans would have a better sense of collective survival and cooperate to this particular common goal. Maybe the game is meant to be a fun shooter game AND a scathing commentary on human individuality and the capitalist mindset.

The Bottom Line

Regardless of the disconnect between fighting a futuristic enemy with current military hardware (and eventually taking that same hardware into space), enjoy the action anyway in this game that really has more dimension to it than your typical alien-killing shooter.
