VideoGame (Aug, 1991)
This is certainly not the best looking title on the NES, but the music is excellent and the opening theme is addictive. This is a fun and challenging adventure that will offer a sense of accomplishment for some players, and an intense frustration for others.
Player One (Oct, 1990)

Admittedly, this is one of the cheaper Nintendo carts, but you'd be better off saving your money until nearer Christmas, when here are some really great Sunsoft titles coming out.
There's not a lot of action in Fester's Quest. You basically run around, trying to find certain items and only stopping to fight a couple of Boss characters along the way. It's a slow game that doesn't have much action or adventure and is unbalanced with Boss creatures that are too fast for the slow pace.
Retro Game Reviews (Sep 20, 2016)
Fester's Quest is a classic example of how not to design a game from a level design, combat and gameplay perspective. It milks a single idea for all it's worth, and the lack of care put into the whole package highlights a lazy, poorly developed title that's surprising for a Sunsoft release.
Steer clear if you can. If not, tough luck – you're on your own.
Nintendo Life (Oct 29, 2010)
Fester's Quest is bad – it could be one of the most horrible games for the NES. Which, in a way, is fitting. If the Addams Family themselves were to play a video game, they may have chosen this one. A group of people that enjoys being tortured and blown up may just enjoy it. It’s almost as if this is a working prop for the show – Wednesday’s favourite video game that is impossible to play and no fun at all. This is one for the history books. The boring, repetitive, uninspired, franchise-destroying history books.

Try to find the good in everything, I implore you. You’ll be a lot happier person at the end of the day if you make that your goal. However, for the sake of your happiness and the goodness you believe to be in other people, do not go near Fester’s Quest.
