In 2007, Rare Video Game Auctions published a list of the most rare and pricey games ever released. 1990 Nintendo World Championships is ranked 6th with $5000+.

There were one-hundred sixteen cartridges of this game created. Ninety were given to the ninety finalists in 1990 and were molded in gray plastic. Twenty-six were given away in a Nintendo Power contest that were molded in gold plastic. These are considered the "Holy Grail" of Nintendo collectibles. One of the gray cartridges, as of 09/17/2005, is up to over $6,000.00 on Ebay.
