References to this game

The next manga that Jōji Manabe wrote after Outlanders was Caravan Kidd, which features a healthy amount of cameo appearances from the Outlanders cast. At one point, the grifter Babo is acting as the manager of the female lead Miann, and takes a call about turning her adventures into a Famicom game. He says he'd have to ask the author (Manabe), who then pops in and shouts "don't screw it up!" Considering the dubious quality of the Outlanders game, released less than a year or so before, it's pretty clear what this is a reference to.
