Super Mario Bros. 3

Super Mario Bros. 3 is often considered to be the best game on the NES and it is hard to argue with that assessment. If you don’t own this game then your NES collection has a large hole in it. If you haven’t played it in awhile or have never beaten it without warping, set aside a day and enjoy one of the best experiences the video game world has to offer!

Super Mario Bros 3 uses the same gameplay as the first, but there's a lot more to discover here, with eight huge "worlds" to explore, each with its own collection of stages and bonus games. This was one of the first video games to employ interactive maps, allowing the player to move freely between the stages. New power-ups allow Mario to transform into characters with special abilities including Racoon Mario, Fire Mario, Frog Mario, and Tanooki Mario. Numerous mini-games add variety and supply bonus items you can activate between stages. The stages themselves are expertly designed and many feature multiple routes. You can't save your game, but there are continues available and "warp whistles" that let you skip ahead. Like the first game, the graphics and music are simple but brimming with personality. It's no surprise that most NES fans regard Super Mario Bros 3 as the greatest Mario Bros game of all time.

En conclusión, Super Mario bros. 3 es un clásico ya se analice como un conjunto o cada uno de sus apartados por separado. Los dos largos años de desarrollo y el esfuerzo hecho por Nintendo para desarrollar este título (mucho más de lo acostumbrado en la época) dieron como resultado el que, probablemente, sea el mejor juego concebido para la ya extinta -aunque no olvidada- Nintendo Entertainment System.

The skill needed to complete the courses in SMB3 increases much through the game. The first worlds are like a nice walk in the park but the later worlds is the most difficult ever seen in an Mario game! This makes Smb3 a good game for both new videogamers and hardened powerplayers! I can´t praise this game enough so stop reading and go out and buy it right away!!

SMB 3 on the NES is just a great title, filled with secrets, fun battles against Bowser's bosses, and many items make SMB 3 a must have NES game. If they would remake 5 NES games, SMB 3 should be one of them. If you still have this in your closet, then bring it out and enjoy.

Wenn nicht gerade die Welt vorher untergeht, wüßte ich nicht, was Nintendo daran hindern sollte, auch Deutschland zum "Marioland" zu machen. Super Mario Bros. 3 ist alleine technisch schon absolut herausragend. Brillante Grafiken kombiniert mit fantastischen Digimusiken stimmen gekonnt auf das spielerisch beste und schlichtweg einfallsreichste Videospiel aller Zeiten ein. Der Unterschied zwischem den grandiosen ersten beiden Marios und dem dritten Teil ist ein unglaublicher Quantensprung und sollte Spieldesignern auf der ganzen Welt schlaflose Nächte bereiten. Mario 3 ist so voll von neuen Ideen, daß eine Verbesserung unmöglich, ein Gleichziehen unwahrscheinlich scheint. Dank all dieser Superlative ist Super Mario Bros. 3 einfach das beste Spiel für eine Konsole und ein Meilenstein der Videospielgeschichte.

Wer dachte, nach Marios Ausflug auf das Super Famicom sei keine Steigerung mehr möglich, hat sich gründlich getäuscht: Super Mario Bros. 3 ist das beste Spiel aus der Endlosreihe. Euer NES wird wohlig schnurren, wenn es dieses Prachtmodul schlucken darf. Natürlich müßt Ihr bei Grafik und Musik die maschinentypischen Abstriche machen, aber wen kümmert das, wenn einem die Gags und fantastischen Einfälle nur so um die Ohren fliegen. Selbst wenn Ihr zu den begnadeten Joypad-Künstlern gehört, die dieses Modul relativ schnell durchspielen (die Wahrscheinlichkeit ist allerdings gering), werdet Ihr auch beim zweiten und dritten Durchgang noch eine Menge Neuheiten entdecken. Der neue Mario ist ein Muß für alle Plattformhüpfer und solche die es werden wollen.

But that's hardly a quibble. This game is a godsend. Like Scarface to Pacino, this game forever secured Mario's legacy, as well as the NES's, and Nintendo's, and humanity's at large.

There are many secrets, powerups and bonuses that can be found througout SMB3, and the game holds up pretty well, even for now. When the game was released as part of the SNES "Super Mario All-stars", it was the one game that went through the least amount of changes. It was simply that good. The only thing that stops this game from getting a 10 is that with so much to do, it's near-impossible to play through the game in one sitting without warping. A save function could've benefitted greatly. Despite this and the huge production run the game received, Super mario Bros. 3 still remains a great find for any NES collector.

Overall, as I said before, I find this to be the best of the series. It's also one of the best 2D platform games you will ever play on the NES, or any system. One of the cool features of this game is the screen in which you control Mario as he selects a level. This little feature was later "borrowed" in quite a few games, such as one of the Adventure Island games and it was also used in later Mario/Wario games (some of the Game Boy adventures that appeared after this, and also SMW itself). Even though it doesn't include the save feature, I enjoy this game more on the NES than I do in the Super Mario All Stars collection on the Super Nintendo. To sum it up, this game is a gem. It doesn't have the slightly more classic/basic feel of SMB, but there are a lot more options and the simple fun is still intact.
