NFL Blitz 2000

This game is the pinnacle of the Blitz series unfortunately; it's been all down hill from there, Midway has continued to try and improve on the 2000 formula, but improving something that is great in gaming almost never works. With its pickup and play controls and incredible multiplayer this game is an absolute must own for anyone into the slowly dieing art of playing multi-player on one screen. Plus it goes for under 5 bucks on eBay; you have no excuse not to own this game.

If you're looking for an arcade-style football game this game is a must buy. Even if you are looking for a simulation-style football game like the Quarterback Club series, you should at least rent this game and see how you like it. I would also recommend this game if you have a lot of anger that needs to be released. Like the slogan says, No rules, No refs, No mercy.

People who haven't seen Blitz '99 in arcades yet are going to be blown away by the additions and tweaks that have been made since the original Blitz was released on the PlayStation. Veterans of Blitz '99 will welcome the ability to finally play the updated game at home, and the new Y2K add-ons don't hurt, either. NFL Blitz 2000 still has a firm lock on the arcade football business.

If you like NFL games but are not quiet that hardcore and want some arcade action, then definitely go for this, it’s got great sound and graphics.

All in all, if you're one who tends to play sports sims, you might not like this. Those who don't play sports games religiously (like me) may find fun in renting it. And if you just hate all types of sports whatsoever, don't come near this. In a nutshell, Blitz isn't bad, isn't good, just decent.

The addition of the four-player mode gives NFL Blitz 2000 a significant advantage over last year's version. If you're after a deeper football game or something that you can play alone, getting Blitzed isn't the right choice (the right choice is NFL 2K). But if arcade style football is your thing and you plan on having your whole crew over for a party, this game should make you happy.

If NFL Blitz 2000's interface wasn't so horrible, this could be a 4-star game. As it stands now, it's a three.
