This game is a trip! The controls are simple and responsive, and the crisp arcade graphics are outstanding. The wacky announcer tosses out hilarious lines like "That was totally uncalled for ...but alot of fun to watch!" The game's torrid pacing is key. A single contest takes less than ten minutes to play, but those are ten minutes of non-stop action!! NFL Blitz is to football what NBA Jam was to basketball, effectively emphasizing the best aspects of the sport.

This is one of the funnest games I have played in a long time. Once you get used to the feel of the game, you will be slamming players down in no time. The plays were a bit too sparse for my liking, but if it really bothered me that much I could always make my own plays in the play editor. I think that this game will bring smiles to the faces of many console owners across the land.

The team that brought you NBA Jam and NBA Hangtime has returned to glory with the amazing action-based football game, NFL Blitz. The N64 translation of the game may not look or sound as pretty, but the gameplay is basically the same, and the addition of a play editor can breathe new life into the game on a daily basis.

The more I played the PSX version, the more I got used to the graphics. Even though the graphics were of lesser quality, the controller was much better suited for this type of game so it was easier for me to play. You do get a few little extra modes with the PSX version, mostly due to the extra storage capacity. In the end, I would definitely recommend the N64 version just because it looks better, but if you only have a PSX you should also be satisfied with the game.

If you're after arcade-style football, look no further than Blitz. It's easy enough to learn that even those of us that don't like sports games can easily get hooked. Blitz is the most addictive sports game ever created. Don't even rent Blitz. Just go buy it. You won't be sorry.

All in all I loved the game because it was so fun to play, especially if you are playing with a friend. This game is a definite must-have for all you football fans. Midway put everything that you have always wanted to do after a play into this game which results in hours of sitting in front of a TV and playing NFL Blitz 'til you can't play it no more.

Playing against other people is the best way to Blitz, because the computer AI isn't particularly impressive - it cheats like Bill Clinton when it falls behind. That's why it's a shame there's no modem or net play, only support for two people at the same machine. But probably the biggest letdown is the failure to include a season mode or play editor, features that somehow made it into the Nintendo 64 version but not the PC one (though a later PC patch does add season play). Still, those are minor problems with what is otherwise one helmet-knocker of a game - and one heck of an arcade port.

De moves zijn agressief als een malle en de gameplay is zo eenvoudig dat je binnen no-time aan je monitor gekluisterd zit en er door geen linebacker meer vanachter vandaan te rossen bent. Hut, hut, hut!

So Blitz isn't perfect. But it provides the purest fun of any video football game ever created. Mark Turmell has two amazing hits on his resume with NBA Jam and Blitz. These games are even more fun than his 2600 Turmoil. The real challenge for him is going to be baseball.

Overall, NFL Blitz serves up some pretty wily football action. Fans of Jam will love it, though you more simulation oriented sports gamers will have a conniption. If you own both a N64 and a PSX, I'd recommend the 64 version, if only for the Play Editor.

One cool thing that definitely did not make up for anything else was little video clips of players getting tackled and scoring (actual video, but Black and White). Considering this was my first GB Color game that I played, I did not have good expectation from the rest of them. However, based on reviews, titles and screenshots it looks like there'll be some good GB Color games out their afterall.

Blitz really was a breath of fresh air when it first debuted in the arcades a few years ago, but it has never transcended its coin-op roots. The endless turnovers and freewheeling play now seem to be little more than football for people who don’t like football. The Blitz formula has grown stale. Perhaps we’ll have to wait for the first XFL game to inject some life into this flagging genre.
