NHL 2000

NHL 2000, ze swoimi większymi i mniejszymi usprawnieniami jest grą rewelacyjną. Poprawiła się ogólna jakość gry, dzięki czemu można przy niej spędzić jeszcze więcej czasu. Niestety nie wszystko jest idealne. Hokeiści sterowani przez komputer często blokują się na tyłach i bokach bramki przeciwnika, i wyglądają jakby zaplątali się w siatkę. Podobnie jak w NHL '99, przewinienie "Checking from Behind" odgwizdywane jest niezwykle rzadko. Ze względu na świetną zabawę jaką oferuje nam NHL 2K, łatwo jest zapomnieć o nielicznych niedociągnięciach. Jeśli podobał ci się NHL '99, to z całą pewnością pokochasz NHL 2000.

The undefeated champion is back. NHL 2000, EA Sports' newest entry into its popular and highly acclaimed hockey series returns with many improvements.

Actually, if we gave stars for our ratings, I'd give this game more than three. While NHL 2000 maintains the same high standards we've come to expect from EA Sports, it improves and adds in many areas. The addition of career mode, more fluid player movements, improved play-by-play, and perhaps more than anything else the ability to put your own face into the game, make this an edition well worth purchasing. Oh yeah, and don't forget the Internet play. Look out world, there's a new hockey god about to hit the ice!

Med NHL '98 lyckades Electronic Arts skapa ett suveränt spel för sin tid, året efter gick det inte lika bra. Men i år har de på nytt knåpat ihop ett hockeyspel som ger alla samtida titlar en rejäl smäll på fingrarna. Det som gör NHL 2000 bättre än NHL '98 är den suveräna helhetskänslan och framför allt det förträffliga utnyttjandet av den analoga kontrollen. Utvecklingen har gått framåt och Electronic Arts har på nytt visat att de minst sagt hänger med, ännu mer nu än för två år sedan.

Das Tempo ist höher, die Checks sind härter, die Steuerung raffinierter. Die renovierte Computerintelligenz äußert sich in mehr Angriffsschwung und knüppelharter Verteidigung. Die passend animierten Gesichter sind eine echte Schau und lassen die Akteure fast schon gespenstisch echt wirken. Mein geheimer Liebling im Reigen der Neuerungen ist das Importieren eigener Visagen. Klingt im ersten Moment nach Kindergarten-Feature, ist aber eine erstaunliche Stimmungs-Vitaminspritze. Unverständlich: Der 10-Jahres-Saisonmodus schöpft mangels Langzeitstatistik nur sein halbes Motivationsreservoir aus. Insgesamt ist das Nörgelpotential aber minimal. Im Gegensatz zur weniger inspirierten 99er Version ist NHL 2000 ein uneingeschränkt kaufenswertes Sport-Highlight mit stabiler Motivations-Formkurve.

In the end, NHL 2000 is about as good of a hockey game as you're going to get on the PlayStation. The faster frame rate not only makes the game run smother than last year's title, but it also helps the gameplay better, and really that's what it's all about. If you're a fan of the series from way back, you'll undoubtedly agree that NHL 2000 is the best PlayStation version of the series thus far.

If you want to own a hockey game, to me it seems like a no-brainer that this is the one to get. If you’re not sure if hockey as a game is your thing then rent it and check out the action and great graphics for yourself. EA Sports is going to have a tough time topping this one next year since there is very little aside from the AI and commentary, which really aren't all that bad to begin with, on which they can improve.

Den Kanadiern Innovationsarmut vorzuwerfen, wäre nicht fair. Während bei FIFA noch einige Verbesserungensmöglichkeiten vorhanden sind, ist die NHL-Serie schon seit gut zwei Versionen am Rande der Perfektion. Das liegt vor allem am gelungenen Gameplay. Bei keiner anderen Eishockeysimulation kann man solch filigranen Pässe spielen und damit die gegnerische Abwehr immer mehr einzwängen. Auch Bodychecks oder andere Unsportlichkeiten machen dank der direkten Steuerung mächtig Spaß.

Yet another ice hockey sequel hits the already packed shelves to confuse the regular punter. EA Sports have once again got their act together with this super game. Excellent graphics, good sound and commentary, all of the skill levels, stats, play options, and team rosters you could possibly want. Check it out!

Besser kann man es wohl nicht machen - wenn man sich nur ein Jahr Zeit läßt. NHL 2000 ist natürlich die beste derzeit erhältliche Eishockey-Simulation. Durch den Karrieremodus und das Importieren von Gesichtern ist die Neuanschaffung für echte Fans durchaus sinnvoll, Gelegenheitsspieler kännen aber mit dem Vorgänger ebenso leben. Denn ganz glücklich bin ich mit NHL 2000 nicht. Die Spieler zappeln immer noch so nervig wie 1996, die Sprachausgabe stimmt oft nicht mit dem Geschehen überein, einige Tore entstehen mehr aus Zufall denn aus Planung und bei der Grafik gibt es genügend Altlasten der 99er-Engine. Größtes Ärgernis ist der zu niedrige Schwierigkeitsgrad, da ich selbst im All-Star-Modus viele Partien zweistellig gewinnen. Diesmal drücke ich ein Auge zu, weil der Karrieremodus für Langzeitmotivation sorgt, aber 2001 will ich mehr sehen!

In short, the EA's NHL avalanche just keeps gathering momentum. It's pretty enticing to think about where this series might be in another few years if it keeps improving at this pace.

Maar moet iedereen die NHL 99 bezit en het spel goed vindt nu onmiddelijk naar de winkel hollen om NHL 2000 aan te schaffen? Tja, het antwoord hangt natuurlijk af van twee factoren. Ten eerste: hoe goed vond je NHL 99? Ten tweede: hoeveel geld heb je over? NHL 2000 is in elk geval een dijk van een spel dat ook nu weer veel hockeyfanaten zal weten te boeien!

The instant replay system is awfully choppy, which is surprising considering how smooth the game moves at normal speed. You'll want to turn the fighting off, because these idiotic brawls consist of both players simply throwing lightning-fast jabs at each other with exaggerated sound effects. It's like a bad martial arts flick! The loading screen takes a while, but at least you get to view a photo of the arena you'll be playing in. It's easy to nit-pick, but pound for pound NHL 2000 is probably the best hockey game you'll find for the Playstation.

Overall, though, this is a fabulous game with tons of features and as realistic a look and feel as I've seen in a sports game yet. Don't pass it by if you're a hockey fan.

must say that I still don't get much sleep cause this game is really good. I enjoy starting my career mode and trade players like crazy and fighting for that Stanley Cup trophy with my favorite team, cause this year NHL2000 is more enjoyable than any other of the NHL games. Of course no game is perfect but this year and judging by my current playing time NHL2000 seems to be closer to perfection than any other of it's predecessors.

I got a lot of fun from this game. It's definitely way above NHL 99 in quality and I'll even go so far as saying that it is superior to NHL 98. The return of fun to the series and an overall improvement in every single category makes this a good buy for a hockey game fan. Multiplayer is an increasingly strong aspect now that people are using LANs more, and that broadband communication via the internet is becoming popular (of course, it remains for EA to exploit this by patching the game up.) While I've always had performance problems with NHL games on a 28k modem, even people with 56Ks weren't complaining too much back in the day (NHL '98.) Single player play is especially improved with computers more balanced and the adjustment of AI so that you're no longer stuck between choosing a super-team for yourself, or giving it to the computer and being stuck with crap.

Besides the gameplay flaws, NHL 2000 is an extremely fun game to play. The non-stop action and punishing body checks, which, I might add, are just as fun as scoring goals, make this game hard to stop playing. This game almost makes me forget about NHL '94 . . . almost. If you have last year's version, or even the one two years ago, the only thing that's really changed is the players. It's still a solid hockey game, and the best one on the market.

All in all, NHL 2000 is a good, fun game. Of course, the same exact thing could be said about last year's version. In a nutshell, if you own last year's game, and don't really care about the trades, sit tight and wait till you have a new system (ie. Dreamcast or Playstation 2) to buy a new hockey game. There's just not enough of a difference between this game and its predecessors. If, however, you've never owned an EA Sports hockey game or you're jonesing to play with the Atlanta Thrashers, this game is a great one to get.

NHL 2000 is grafisch een stukje beter maar vooral de nieuwe 'extra ballen' knop, waarmee je je character meer risiko kan laten nemen is een dope feature.
