Touch, rub, scream and even blow your way to the love of your life in SEGA's first title for the Nintendo DS!

Few things in life can drive a man to strange behaviour more effectively than the charms of a beautiful woman. And that's where we find ourselves, in the shoes of a young man smitten at first sight with a jaw-dropping honey. Too shy to simply ask her out, our hero recruits the services of a wacked-out theatrical group called the Rub Rabbits, with whose help he hopes to steal her heart. What ensues is a mammoth series of enthralling, visually stunning challenges; from sailing a yacht with your own breath to flicking scorpions from her back with stylus and touch-screen, there's never a dull moment.

Developed by the renowned SONICTEAM, Project Rub offers hours of revolutionary gameplay by pushing the Nintendo DS' unique technology to the limit. Switch between stylus, voice and even breath to control the action on-screen, all while revelling in a brilliantly funny storyline and uniquely stylish graphics.

FEEL THE MAGIC ON NINTENDO DS SEGA
Ships Quirky Love Story; Rub, Touch, Shout, Blow to Control Character Action

SAN FRANCISCO (November 18, 2004) -- SEGA® today announced the release of Feel the Magic’: XY/XX (also known as Kimi no Tame Nara Shineru in Japan), its highly-stylized launch title for the Nintendo DS’ System. Developed by SONICTEAM, Feel the Magic’: XY/XX is a quirky, interactive adventure that offers an innovative experience through new methods of play.

Leveraging the unique touch-screen and voice-recognition interfaces offered by the DS hardware, Feel the Magic: XY/XX challenges gamers to switch from tapping and rubbing the touch screen to screaming and blowing into the microphone to control character actions. As unique as the control system, the surreal, humor-driven story follows an "average Joe" who enlists the help of the Rub Rabbits, a suave gang of dramatic performers who wear plastic rabbit ears, to help him capture the attention of a beautiful young woman.

"When new hardware hits retail, consumers look for innovative titles that push the technological limits of the platform," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Entertainment Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Feel the Magic: XY/XX does this and more with hip, '70s-style silhouette images and retro sound design."

Impress your love interest throughout a series of madcap performances that will have players cleaning the girl, flicking scorpions off her back, distracting raging bulls from her path, and blowing their sail boat in her direction. Winning her affection is just the beginning when a rival threatens to get in the way. Will our hero ever be able to feel the magic of true love?

Feel the Magic: XY/XX is rated "T" for Teen and is available at retailers nationwide for an MSRP of $29.95.

SEGA’s Nintendo DS launch title is a quirky, highly stylized adventure that’s packed with crazy events. Feel the Magic: XY/XX is exactly the kind of visionary, high concept title that only Sonic Team and SEGA can deliver. The game’s hero is doing everything he can to score a date with a sunny beauty. He enlists the help of the Rub Rabbits – a suave gang of super performers who wear plastic, members-only rabbit ears – to help him get her attention. Through a series of madcap performances our hero manages to impress the girl. When he finally takes her out, the craziness really begins: a rival suddenly appears and a dark cloud is cast over their love. Will he ever be able to feel the magic of true love?

The game puts the unique hardware of the Nintendo DS to great use, taking full advantage of both screens and the voice recognition system. Throughout gameplay, players switch among the stylus, their voice, and even their breath to control the main character.

To win the affection of the girl, our hero must impress her by performing a series of stunts. Of course, he needs your help. Our hero is faced with some of the quirkiest challenges around. When 100 bulls rush toward the girl, you must tap every one to make sure they fall out of the way. You will guide him as he tries to ride a unicycle across a catwalk. You'll blow into the built-in microphone to blow out candles before they start a fire. And that's only the tip of the Feel the Magic's wacky gameplay iceberg.

If the hip, stylized art and addictive touch-screen gameplay wasn't enough, you can unlock features for your beauty. Inserting certain SonicTeam-produced GBA cartridges to unlock costumes and other cosmetic features. Sonic Advance 3, Chu Chu Rocket and Sonic Battle are just a few of the games that will unlock these special features.

    Bottom Line

When a game is both innovative and fun, it's a must-have on any list.
