Golden Sun: Dark Dawn takes places 30 years after the event of Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. The player takes control of the children of the protagonists from the previous games going on an adventure to find a magical feather.

The gameplay is very similar to previous Golden Sun games. In this role-playing game, four different types of elements (fire, water, wind and earth) are combined to create spells. Combat often involves facing multiple monsters at each time.

The continent of Weyard has changed a lot during the 30 years that have passed, because as Alchemy was restored, conflicts and natural disasters also reached the continent. The game features 3D graphics and brand new spells.
