Un "must have" en toda regla.

Overall, this is the first Sonic game in a long time that I can recommend. If you have a DS, you should absolutely pick this one up. Sonic Rush pays tribute to the original game but also adds some welcome new features that really make this game more enjoyable than ever.

Sonic Rush is a pretty full package. If I had any complaints, it'd be that not being able to save between individual acts would be the biggest of them all. The occasional bottomless pit out of nowhere would also be pretty high on that list, but those turned out to be pretty rare. The stages are huge, well-detailed, and genuinely fun to poke around in. As far as side-scrollers go, it's high quality. It'd be nice to have more extra content, but what we have here should be enough to keep you sated for a good while. It's difficult, but not so difficult that you'll snap your DS in half while you play. Have fun with it, it's worth it. This is the best Sonic game in ages.

Sliced Gaming (GameBiz)
This is a very successful Sonic game, and I can understand why people have been praising it as the best yet. The action is fluid and fun, though some of the difficulty is a bit off. It looks gorgeous, and I give top props to the developers for the engine in both the normal stages and 3D boss battles. The ability to replay each stage and boss battle from the main menu is a nice addition which allows for easy replaying. While let down by a few frame rate issues, it's very short length and passable sound, it's definitely worth a renting before you fork out your money. Fans of the series should just go ahead and buy it.

Sonic Rush gets back to the roots of the series. It has all of the fast and fun game play you would expect from a Sonic title. The levels are varied and lengthy, the Boss fights are great, and it’s just flat out fun. The graphics are cute and the music is fun. On the downside, it takes awhile to get used to the viewpoint, and, at the end of the day, you really have played this game before. It’s Sonic with a new coat of paint. If that’s OK with you, then Sonic Rush is worth the time.

You've got to hand it to Sonic Team as they've done a great job with Sonic Rush. The sense of speed, the challenging boss fights and the good use of the consoles' two screens make for an enjoyable Sonic experience. However, it's not as wildly different as you think it would be and those Sonic fans expecting something unique may be a little disappointed that the game is very similar to those games they've already played before. It's also a little disappointing that Blaze the Cat doesn't really offer anything different and doesn't feel that different from Sonic. Essentially though, this is a promising debut on the DS for Sonic and Sonic Team have shown that the game can be just as enjoyable on two screens as it is on one.

In our humble opinion, Sonic's riotous speed has always suited 2D best, and so it's a perfect fit for the DS. There are quick forays into 3D, but they're mostly reserved for pretty effects. Along with the traditional bungee cords, boost pads and cannons that twang, fling and fire Sonic through the levels at ever-increasing speeds, you'll now encounter cranes, centrifuges (look it up) and statues that whisk him towards the screen. It's a visual style that works really well - the occasional pretty bits are really just a blinking break from the otherwise relentless speed. Another new touch - but one that takes more getting used to - is the dual-screen functionality. Levels now tend to be a lot 'taller', with the double-screen display making sprinting vertically a common occurrence. It's confusing at first, but thankfully it's rare that you really need to keep an eye on both screens at once.

Sonic Rush achieves what Sega themselves could not, capturing the essence of the original Sonic games and beating it into the game we’ve been waiting for since Sonic & Knuckles. Facing off against huge bosses, weaving between mines in the special stages and blasting your way through each level all contribute to what is a real rush from start to finish, and Sega would do well to learn from this game as they enter the next generation.

Endlich!

Sonic Rush is a great game that, for the most part, is a blast to play through, and is a real return to form for Sonic. The game won't take all that long to complete, but the top score and time trial challenges, as well as the multiplayer battle mode, should keep you entertained for quite some time. If you own a DS and fancy some traditional Sonic magic, Sonic Rush should fit the bill nicely. The best pure platformer on the DS is from Sega; who'd have thought it?

Game Freaks 365
Visually, Sonic Rush brings the beautiful, colorful 2D style of past Sonic games to the DS with polygonal, detailed character and enemy models. Adding to that are 3D boss fights at the end of every Zone. As I said, the game runs very smoothly and never hiccups, even when I would slam into enemies and lose all of my coins. The music goes well with the game, as it is a fast-paced rock and electronica mix that stimulates the action even more. The only annoying factor is the voices in the game. Sonic Rush is simple, fun and visually appealing to any Sonic fan. It isn’t perfect; the game is definitely too short. For the gameplay found here, though, it's one of the best DS platforming games out there. Sonic fans, grab a DS and enjoy yourselves.

G4 TV: X-Play
Sonic Rush Adventure is another solid DS game starring the little blue hedgehog, and will likely count as one of the only reasons series fans won’t write off Sonic and his friends anytime soon. Sega really needs to take the magic of these portable games and translate it into a kick-ass console game…quick.

Some bosses are amazing, like the mechanical snake that disconnects its head and attacks you with it! Rush's bonus stage is a throwback to Sonic 2, challenging you to collect a number of rings while running through a 3D half-pipe. It can only be played with the stylus but that works very well. One aspect of Sonic Rush I didn't appreciate at all was the music. These disjointed tunes are straight-up wack, and seem to be constructed from a hodgepodge of irritating voice samples. Despite its flaws, I had a good time playing Sonic Rush. It maintains an old-school style of play, but doesn't feel stale at all. Actually, it makes me want to play a new 2D Sonic game on the big screen! Will that ever happen?

Game Chronicles
This is a Sonic Advance title through and through-it does not have the depth that its Genesis predecessors do. Despite this it’s an extremely polished title, with the exception of the storyline script, and there’s been a lot of work put into level design. The difference between enemies is no longer cosmetic, and there have been a bunch of tricky platform parts that prevent you from simply holding down the right button on the d-pad. The music is good, and the graphics are pretty. The top/bottom switch is neat, but until you get used to it, it can throw you off.

The great level designs provide frantic fun, but despite my many fond memories of Sonic, its difficult to heap praise on a game that makes me feel like I'm still playing the Sega Genesis. Then again, for Sonic fans, that's a dream come true.

This original Sonic game for Nintendo's Dual Screen handheld offers gamers dual adventures, both in the series' speedy, side-scrolling style. Designed to make use of the handheld's distinctive features, the action plays out on both screens, and multiplayer modes are wirelessly supported.

Dear Sega: Please give me a Sonic the Hedgehog game. I was really hoping that your latest DS offering would provide me with the classic 2D ring-collecting, loop-running, high speed gameplay that I haven’t seen in this series since Sonic & Knuckles. I don’t want weird jet-ski minigames between levels. I don’t want the hyper-annoying music this series is recently associated with. I just want to run from the left side of the screen to the right, then fight a big fat guy in a giant mechanical contraption of some sort. Thank you.

Gaming Target
Sonic Rush is not a perfect game by any means, but it does offer some classic Sonic gameplay with a few additions for the current generation. There is nothing in the title that makes it stand out from the hordes of quality DS games, other than that it has Sonic in it. Even the replay value is low with little in the way of unlockables or other reasons to return except to beat your old stage ranking. Frankly, with the way Sega's once proud mascot has fallen, does that even surprise many? Sorry, but Sonic Rush is just a mediocre offering and should be passed over for better titles unless you are a big fan.

Digital Press - Classic Video Games
This really is a disappointment all around. If it weren't for the level design, which is wonderful at capturing the Sonic aesthetic, this would be an excellent extension of the Game Boy Advance games in the series. Those deep falls don't help a series that's set on letting players explore gigantic levels multiple times. You can expect to be frustrated long before you appreciate the dual screen and multi-player bonuses.
