Abe's Exoddus is a great game overall with its fun and exciting gameplay, awesome graphics, and funny sounds. Sure to please many gamers, this title is one worth looking at because of the sheer amount of quality that was put into its production. Overall, I would say that everyone should try this game at least once.

All in all, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus is a superb game with superb gameplay. If you are looking for a game that has length, diversity, and tons of challenge, or if you are a avid fan of side-scrollers, then look no further and do not miss this gem of a game.

The bottom line is that if you like good graphics and a well-designed game, this game is definitely worth looking at. Abe’s Exoddus is entertaining and can be quite challenging at times. The only thing that bothers me about the game is that it looks and feels too much like the first game. We all have played the Tomb Raider series and have seen how dry that can get. That is why I am going to go out on a limb and give this game two separate ratings. If you have solved the first game, then I would rate the game as about an 82. If you have not played any games in the series, this is a no-brainer.

Otherwise, the waiting game just doesn't parallel the egocentric fun of keeping this title to yourself. In all, Abe's Exoddus is a great example of how a game can stay true to its conceptual pursuit while still improving upon the original, all while keeping its soul intact. If you loved the first one, you'll like this game more. If you didn't play the first one, you can start here. If you hated the first one, it's likely because of the lack of save points, so you should definitely consider giving this series another try.

I loved the first Abe adventure and was eagerly anticipating the release of this new title. Well, I wasn't disappointed...in fact I actually liked this one better than the first game. I found the overall balance of the game to be much improved from its predecessor and the gameplay controls tweaked just right. I also liked the save anywhere at anytime feature...cool... The game looks pretty much the same as last years effort with slightly improved graphical effects and the same good old over the top sound effects! Looks like Oddworld may end up being a yearly staple of games to watch for...I sure hope so!

Heh, heh, heh.

Exoddus is an excellent game, but it suffers slightly from one pitfall: there is not very much that is new here. The graphics are very similar, the game engine is unchanged, the gameplay mechanics are largely the same, and most of the sound is taken directly from Oddessy. The improvements in Exoddus make it a much more streamlined, polished gaming experience, but not quite a full sequel in any terms other than plot line. That aside, Exoddus is a better game overall than Oddessy was, and that makes it very good indeed.

Abe's Exoddus has everything to keep gamers entertained: an interesting story, great gameplay, nice graphics, and intelligent level design. It's a bit more difficult than it's predecessor, but unlike the original you can save wherever you wish, making death in Exoddus not nearly as frustrating as it was in Oddysee. By adding new features to an already stable backbone, Oddworld Inhabitants should have another hit on their hands.

Abe's Exoddus is a direct continuation of Abe's Oddysee with few actual changes made. Even so, its still highly addictive, very charming, and a good way to waste a couple of hours when you're bored. If you liked the first one, grab it. If you hated the first one, subtract 15 points from my rating, then get mad at me because the score is still too high. If you didn't play the first one, I'd recommend getting that one (most likely for very cheap) and seeing how you like it. Abe's Exoddus is a worthy follow-up, but is more of a brother than sequel to the first. Lastly, after beating the game it told me to watch out for "Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee" in the year 2000. I couldn't tell if it was some joke I didn't get or what, but assuming its real I hope they completely redo and redesign everything. They weren't beating a dead horse here, but a third game would most certainly be flogging that pony.

What an ingenious game! Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus is a clever and humorous title that progresses not from battle to battle, but challenge to challenge. As tough as things get, though, it is a consistent pleasure. Such inventive ideas! Manipulating emotions, possessing creatures, interacting with enemies and allies that seem alive, and blending it all together to avoid the copious dangers in Oddworld. Veterans will appreciate the added sophistication in the intelligence and puzzles, and everyone will delight in the exotic graphics and animation. In addition, the designers have removed all vexations, meaning gamers no longer have to die time and again to solve the game, or loop through the same extended sequence multiple times to consummate an intricate move. One quibble is that the graphics and game mechanics sometimes resemble the original too much, meaning the game is an ambitious enhancement, not a next-generation title. Nonetheless, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus is a delight.

In most respects, ABE’S EXODDUS is a good game. However, it’s more a continuation of ABE’S ODDYSEE than it is a full-fledged sequel. It has some innovative gameplay and a very stylized look, but nothing that fans of the original won’t have already seen. I really enjoyed the personality of the game’s various creatures, especially the Glukkons, as well as the game’s overall art style. However, many times during the game, I saw EXODDUS for what it really is: a smart platformer, with all the pluses and minuses that genre implies. Those who appreciate twitch puzzles and the repetitive “die-reload” gameplay inherent in platformers will find an enjoyable game. Others lured by the promise of a live world and truly interactive characters had best wait for the next Oddworld adventure.

Inevitable frustrations aside, Abe's Exoddus is continually rewarding as you successfully accomplish its countless, difficult trials of dexterity and wit. On top of that, you'll be treated to some of the highest quality cinematics you've ever seen, all together making Abe pretty tough to beat.

WindowsComputer Games Magazine
The biggest problem with the Oddworld series is a perfect parallel of the gameworld itself. Just as the Mudokons are some fantastically freaky guys suffering under the yoke of oppressive taskmasters, the Oddworld games present a fantastically freaky world fettered by linear and often frustrating gameplay. This odd world is far too rich and vibrant for these 2D constraints and platform gaming conventions. Just wait until the brilliant and wild minds behind these titles bust loose into their next project's 3D engine. Until then, Abe's Exoddus is as good as 2D gaming gets.

PlayStationIGN
In the end, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is not just a cult game, it's bigger and better than that. But many people will be turned off with the die-until-you-don't game design and its unforgiving approach. Hopefully, the goofy ways of the hilarious Mudokons and their story will compel you to play on until the very end. But if you're not immediately swept away with Abe's Exoddus, then just don't buy this game. While it's not for everyone, those who favor it, will love it to death.

WindowsJust Adventure
Abe is not for everyone, though everyone who plays it will enjoy the experience. His is a world full of humor and peril, but in this age of genre-crossing, Exoddus is not a game that fits simply into one category. If you played the first, then this is more of the same. If you have wanted to play a platform game that is not riddled with impossible action maneuvers, then Abe may tickle your fancy. If you are a fan of Lemmings-like puzzles and situations, then you and Abe may get along swimmingly. If nothing else, it can be said that Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is truly a game for all players.

There is respite, and the cut-scenes are brilliantly created (especially in the sound department). But you do end up wondering what kind of masochistic gamer this is aimed at. If you've got the patience of a saint, I'd say try it - there's not much like it on the PC at the moment. Me? I'm not mentally stable enough to see it through, so I'm ducking out of this one.

Exodus is a well-constructed adventure, but the benefit of the new features is largely offset by the games' more elaborate and demanding puzzles. Exoddus will thrill those who mastered the first game, but for newcomers this is a heck of a lot to chew.
