Don't play this game, unless you want to be sucked in by a game! For a lack of better words, "This game is INCREDIBLE". I honestly don't know how else to put it...the folks over at Oddworld Inhabitants did a fantastic job putting together this package. When they say this game needed to come to a 3D world, they weren't kidding! The characters, the story, the graphics, the music, the sounds, the gameplay and the immersion, are simply outstanding. This very dark, unique and creative environment is well thought out to keep you hangin' on for a long time! Buy this game!

Munch's Oddysee unlike the other Oddworld games take a long time to beat spanning over 50 levels full of many adventure for Abe and Munch to face. The story is what will sink players into the game and force them not to stop playing. You will never see a more original and more ODD then Oddworld.

There is so much interesting and unique features
in Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee, and so little room write it. This game comes Highly
Recommended from the XboxSolution Staff and is a definite must have
for every Xbox owner.
It looks nice and is a good game to show you the power of the almighty X. It is also very innovative because you play with Abe and Munch through the entire game, which adds a little bit of fun, and also makes it harder. Because Abe and Munch both have different abilities, it allows for a more exciting game. Need some more spooce? Get abe to regrow it for you. No where to go and abe cant swim? Better let munch do the work and swim across the water and figure out what to do next. What I like about the game is that its unpredictable, and has a nice story. The only thing I dont like is that once you beat it, if you play it again it loses the challenge of the game and because of this, it has basically no replay value. But when you are playing, its a nice refeshing game that is one thing for sure, different.
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee is being positioned as the Xbox's Mario 64 or Crash Bandicoot. However, it really transcends that role. Although the aforementioned games were great and certainly furthered their genres, Munch's Oddysee is the kind of title that will get game development noticed as an art form. It's so obviously a labor of love. The characters and story are unlike anything on the market and ooze personality. This is by far the most creative Xbox launch game, but it suffers from repetitiveness and unresponsive controls. Still, it will clearly appeal to platform-game aficionados, those that feel they've outgrown the genre should give it a try as well.
I don’t think I could get clearer about this puzzle platform game. I have never seen such game before, people who think that pandemonium, Crash Bandicoot (which is reported to come to Xbox btw) pushed their levels, and well I certainly would consider those people trying out this game. Definitely one of the better launch titles for the Xbox.
This is a niche game folks, but it's so radically different from anything you've ever played (unless you've played the previous games in the series, of course) that you'll just sit back and love the fact that a group of people got together and made this whacked out game. While it does suffer from some repetitive gameplay from time to time, the artistic license more than entirely makes up for it. If you're not sure rent it - from there you'll immediately know if you'll want to play the whole game.
Once there was a land called Oddworld, a freakishly wonderful place of boundless possibility, primed for a great evolutionary transformation as it made the leap from Sony’s ancient PlayStation contraption to Microsoft’s shiny new Xbox machine. And leap Oddworld did but evolve, alas, Oddworld did not. Instead, it just molted its old skin and emerged a little bit bigger, perhaps, and quite a whole lot shinier but still mostly the same darn thing it had always been.
Why, if I seemed to have enjoyed this game so much did I give it an average score? Especially after I hyped up the graphics so much? Well, the answer is, because, this game is not going to appeal to the mass gaming public. Sure, it has garnered a good sized following, but this is a genre game if I’ve ever seen one. If you liked the other Oddworld titles then yes, you will want this one. If you like quirky adventure games then you will also want to pick this one up. But if you like your adventure games more serious and in the Fear Effect
vein, then you probably won’t like this one. An excellent weekend rental.
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee is a very smart game with great puzzles, yet there's not enough variety in those puzzles to keep it completely entertaining throughout. It's a good game in a series of excellent games that will likely be criticized more than it deserves to be due to its prominence as an Xbox launch title. Like the games that preceded it in the Oddworld series, it's much more of an art-house pick than a holiday season blockbuster. Only this time, it fell prey to not only the hype of being the next in the impressive series, but also to being a launch title for the coming Xbox. Regardless of its hype, Munch's Oddysee is a strong, imaginative game, although one that's held back by a few key factors.
All in all then a fun and imaginative, if not inspired nor perfect Xbox debut for the Oddworld series – occasionally grating but it certainly has it’s moments, and is certainly a worthwhile purchase for younger gamers and those who enjoy the 3D platform genre. The graphics are lovely too.
What made the first Oddworld so fantastic was the integration of story, action, art design and sour humor that made it one of the most polished packages I've ever seen on a console. You may not have enjoyed the 2D Prince of Persia style gameplay, or maybe you didn't like the creepy character design -- but as a package, it was hard to argue that Oddworld as a whole was the product of a unique company, and a unique mind. Those of us that loved every bit of the original game -- and I'm one of them -- felt like we'd finally found a platform game for grown ups.

There are a lot of things I admire about Oddworld Inhabitants. Unlike so many developers, Oddworld really concentrates on the story and character development. You don’t just play an Oddworld game; you feel it. Unfortunately, its passion for creating unique experiences gets out of hand and the games become a monster all their own.
Oddworld Munch's Oddysee has been in the gaming news for a long time now. The first big surprise was its move from the PS2 to the Xbox. The second big surprise? It's not as good as we hoped. Abe, Munch and all their pals are hilarious, but the gameplay gets repetitive, what with all the Spooce collecting and somewhat uninspired puzzles. Though there's enough character and fun flowing through Mucnh's Oddyssey to warrant a try, it's a bit too much odd and too little interesting.
Ultimately then Munch's Oddysee is something of a mixed bag. It has some highly entertaining and at times hilarious moments, but personally I found the humour very hit and miss. The voice acting is superb, but there isn't enough variety and the two or three comments which each of the characters will make in any given situation soon become grating. If I hear "hey it's Abe" one more time I'm going to drop someone into a scrab pen. Add to that poorly thought out controls and a camera which can leave you staring at a blank wall at the most inconvenient of moments and things can get rather frustrating.
At first glance, Munchs Oddysee shows flashes of greatness, featuring a stunning storyline that makes up for the gameplay deficiencies. Munch is the last living member of his species thanks to industrial exploitation, and the only hope for Munch is to retrieve the last can of eggs on the market and raise the babies inside to revive his race. The game explains this with a batch of brilliant cinematic cut-scenes -- youd have to have a heart of stone not to feel a strange bond with Munch as he describes his lonely existence and sets off on a quest to save his strange aquatic species with his Mudokon friend Abe, enlisting help from other creatures of Oddworld along the way. The first moments with the adorable Fuzzles, clumps of fur with eyes and a mean bite, hearing their delighted squeals at being freed from a cage, are simply magical, in a way that all games should be and so few are.

Sometimes the action button doesn't register at all, or does something other than you intended. The directional controls are very touchy, and I don't like the idea of firing a weapon by pushing in on the right thumbstick. Munch's Odyssee has flashes of brilliance here and there, but in the sea of 3D adventures, it doesn't stand out.
