Description

A game based on Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey. Taking place after the Greek army has conquered Troy, the victorious soldiers begin their voyage home. But they have offended the god Poseidon and he scatters the Greek fleet across the sea. After drifting for some time, the goddess Athena takes pity upon the boats of Ulysses and uses her power to help him find his way home.

Winds of Athena is an overhead-view game. The player takes the role of the goddess Athena as she seeks to maneuver ships safely across each screen. Athena's abilities are primarily the ability to control the wind (and thus speed of the Greek ships) as well as the water currents the ships sail on. Athena also has other abilities to manipulate the world which show up in certain situations. Such as being able to snatch projectile rocks from the air. The ships must be kept away from damaging coral, deadly sand dunes as well as past all kinds of mystical beings. At times, statues must be triggered and tribute food collected in order to progress.
