Description

Ogniem i mieczem (With Fire and Sword) is a turn-based (attack & movement phases) strategy game set in war-torn Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in XVII century telling the story of Ukrainian rebellion.

It features over 20 historical units, a campaign (10 battles) plus 8 stand-alone battles, baroque stylized interface and video clips from the movie spliced between the battles. A built-in multimedia encyclopedia introduces the player to the historical setting.

The game was released after the commercial success of the movie (under the same title) directed by Jerzy Hoffman (which itself is based on the first book of an epic XIX-century trilogy of historical novels written by Nobel Prize winner Henryk Sienkiewicz).

The pre-battle narratives are spoken by Maciej Kozłowski, who starred in the movie as Maxym Kryvonis (one of the Cossack leaders).
