Once Twice Thrice is a top-down realtime puzzle game in which the player controls three wizards, each with a unique ability. One wizard has the power to destroy enemies with fire and walk on lava. Another wizard has the power to create trees and walk through them. The last wizard has the ability to put out fires with water and walk across water squares.

The player controls each wizard, avoiding enemies like golems and sharks, and manipulating levers and doors to position each of his wizards on the goal squares, which ends the level.
