the player is under constant attack of enemies in all directions. The game uses a top-down grid in which the player always inhabits the center and enemies enter the grid around the edges. There can be a maximum of four different enemies at a time. Each turn the player can select a weapon and fire on an enemy of choice. The player may also opt to recharge lost hitpoints. The player has different hitpoints for different systems. Whether the player hits or misses a shot is determined randomly. The enemies obviously fire back.
