In the two first games, you're playing as Daniel Garner, a soul stuck in Purgatory while his wife is in Heaven, having accepted to kill Lucifer's generals. If he wins, he'll join his wife. In the third one, you're playing Belial, son of the light and the shadows, half-angel, half-demon, master of time and dimensions. He was imprisoned, betrayed by Heaven and Hell, but he's freed when Lucifer is killed by Daniel. Now, he wants revenge against those who hurt him.

These FPS have special features like different enemies in each level, a few original weapons with a primary and secondary firing mode, the demon morphing every 66 souls eaten and the Tarot Card system. This latter allows you to carry with you two silver and three golden cards during a level in exchange of gold. Silver cards are useful during the level and golden ones are limited in time and use, so, it's up to you to trigger their effects at the right moment because you can only make one use per level. For collecting them, you have to win a challenge, different in each level.

Another feature is the change in settings when playing a certain level of difficulty. Daydream doesn't allow you to play with the Tarot Cards. In Insomnia, Nightmare and Trauma, you can unlock levels. Finally, in Trauma, enemies don't let green souls, useful for morphing into a demon.
