The sequel Panzer Dragoon Zwei II, in which you pilot an ammunition-packed dragon across vivid 3-D landscapes, is as intense as anything in the movie Dragonheart (with which it has no affiliation, though the medieval synergy can't hurt). It's also as fiery hot as any game from PlayStation.
The Video Game Critic
Add in the ability to save your game, and you can see this is a complete package. Even the graphics are easier on the eyes thanks to larger, better-defined enemies. It's hard to be critical of Panzer Dragoon II - it's one of the best Saturn games I've ever played.
Along with the screen-filling bosses and lush scenery (brought to you by the mind of French illustrator and Heavy Metal magazine artist Moebius), the sound has been upgraded. Heroic in spots, the score fades to eerie nothingness during intense battles.
The best game on the Saturn so far. Panzer Zwei is an indescribably flaming experience from start to finish, with unbelievably cinematic graphics, pretty good music and an atmosphere that no game I've ever played, save PD and it's sequel, has captured before. You just have to buy it.
Sega Collectors Guild
If you liked Panzer Dragoon you will love Panzer Dragoon II: Zwei. If you
didn't like Panzer Dragoon, give Zwei a shot anyway because the
developers improved upon the original in every area that matters. Zwei
is the best rail-shooter of the 32-bit era and everything that makes the
Panzer series so magical is here. The Panzer series is reason enough to
purchase a Saturn, so if you have the cash and are even remotely
interested in shooters, grab this game and become engulfed by the
impressive world that Sega created.
Whether you will like this game or not will entirely depend on whether or not you're a fan of rail shooters. In 2004, Panzer Dragoon Zwei amounts to little more than an aging piece of history. When compared graphically to other Saturn games, however, it can easily stand among the best of them (even next to Panzer Dragoon Saga). If you want a rail shooter with gorgeous modern day graphics, then buy yourself a copy of Panzer Dragoon Orta for the Xbox. The original Saturn Panzer Dragoon trilogy, however, will always hold a special place in any Saturn fan's heart.
Congratulations to Sega in maintaining the high quality of the Panzer Dragoon title. We haven't heard anything about a 'Panzer Dragoon Drei' yet, but we have hope. This time with more levels, please? This series should really be the flagship game of the Saturn.
Not many games can be considered solely for their artistic value, but Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is quite simply gorgeous in a way that no other 32-bit game has been able to manage. In all, PDIIZ is a first class addition to the Saturn library and one that Saturn owners should simply not be without.

Although your dragon's course is still on a "track", this time around you have more control over where the track leads you. The graphics have been tweaked to the point that they're almost distractingly beautiful and the game is much longer and much more challenging.
All Game Guide
With all this lush and original design, this game is nothing short of greatness. Although not very long, it is so intriguing that many players will want to play it again after completing it once. Try Panzer Dragoon II Zwei at least once as it is one of the best games ever created for the Saturn!
At the risk of Cyril ostracizing me for mentioning another N64 title, I have to say this was the best rail shooter I've played since StarFox 64.
Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
This is simply an awesome sequel. Visually the game is just a masterpiece. The scrolling and rotating effects add a lot of gameplay that only Panzer has to offer. My one complaint is that the game seems a bit easy. There is the ability to build up your dragon and weapons, but it is sort of tricky and really not needed. Understandably, the tricky paths will give the game a lot of replay value, but I wished the straight-and-narrow path would yield some extras as well. Still, with multiple dragons, weapons and endings, it is sure to keep you playing. The challenge may be a bit low, but there is a ton to see and play. Everyone should try this one out!
