I had a tough time trying to decide whether I liked this game or not. Certainly the fun device of playing three different characters, the interesting story, the well-done graphics and acting, and a few of the innovative puzzles stand strongly in Paris 1313's favor. Yet the tedium of the repetitive scenes and the equally repetitive trial-and-error puzzles had me gnashing my teeth, almost enough to overcome my enjoyment of the things the game did well. I had the impression that Wanadoo cut corners in order to get the whole game onto one CD. If you have a high threshold for frustration and love the Middle Ages as much as I do, you'll probably enjoy it. If not, be forewarned.

This is a fairly short game but quite an enjoyable one, especially if you're a sucker for medieval history, like yours truly. Play it, and you'll feel (like I did) that you've had a brief medieval Paris vacation!

The major problem with the game as it now stands is that it has been very haphazardly translated into English. In several places, the translation is incomplete, and this is a real sticking point for those players who don't parlez Français. If Index intends its English version of Paris 1313 to be a success, this issue must be addressed. ;o).

Another historical edutainment presentation from the makers of Vikings and Crusader, this is a nice little set of puzzles draped about the shoulders of an intriguing tale concerning the making of the first mechanical clock. It all takes place in 14th century Paris, and isn't half bad.

The wide variety of puzzles in Paris 1313 does not make up for their uneven implementation, largely because they are too often overly simple or arbitrary.
