DescriptionBurning Dragon begins with an entirely text-less intro depicting an army of jetpack-using robots, and several war planes being dispatched against them. Thus, there can only be speculations about its story, but apparently "Burning Dragon" is the jet the player controls. The game is a vertically scrolling shooter with standard characteristics of the genre: limited continues, power-ups, etc. The stages are not numbered, but presented as a continuous whole. The jet can sustain several hits before losing a life, which, in its turn, brings it back to the last checkpoint. Checkpoints tend to be rather frequent, compared to other games of this genre. After having lost several life, it's Game Over; but the remaining amount of Continues still brings the player back to the checkpoint, without the necessity to replay a larger portion of the game.
Most of the time the player-controlled jet fights against other jets, tanks, turrets, etc. Boss enemies appear at certain points to pose an additional challenge. Power-ups pop out usually after destroying certain parts of the scenery (buildings, etc.). Power-ups are shaped like constantly changing letters; depending on which letter it turned into when the jet touched it, they can grant various enhancements to it, which include rapid fire, additional cannons, missiles, etc.
