Description

For thousands of years, the waters beyond the Sea of Reality have been shrouded in mystery. But now, as the ancient lord of the oceans is rising once again and threatening an entire race with complete extinction, the dawning of this new evil is bringing to light the secrets once concealed in the depths.

Rising Tide is the third expansion for Perfect World International, bringing a significant number of additions and changes to the game.

A fourth playable race, Tideborn, is added, along with the requisite two new classes: Assassin and Psychic. Three new areas are also added, as is a new high-level dungeon, and some equipment gains a new upgrade system. On the questing side, the additions include massive, server-wide public quests, as well as special quests for married characters. Key binding and auto-targeting features have been implemented, the inventory interface has been slightly improved and players who purchase a certain cash shop item gain the ability to activate an account stash, which functions just like a bank but is shared between all characters made on that account.

Trivia

Level cap

On November 22, 2010 (almost a year after release), Kitamura, a Tideborn Assassin playing on the Lost City PvP server, was the first player to finally reach the level cap of 105. More surprisingly, she managed to do so without purchasing a single dollar's worth of ZEN. A short interview with her is available and if you'll read it you'll probably be quite shocked by the staggering amount of time required to gain the last few levels: Even such a skilled and dedicated player was estimating five weeks to go from 104 to 105 and, despite having that plan delayed by more than two months, still ended up being the first one to reach the level cap!
