Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh

Het spel is geen hersenkraker, maar zo eenvoudig als Phantasmagoria 1 is het ook niet. Phantasmagoria 2 staat dan ook garant voor ettelijke uren spelplezier. Ik hang bange voorgevoelens voor Phantasmagoria 2. Niets daarvan is overeind gebleven. dit spel is buitengewoon goed. Er wordt doorlopend aan een heel beangstigende sfeer gewerkt, die je echt aan je toestel gekluisterd zal houden. Wat mij betreft is dit het beste wat ik tot nu toe van Sierra gezien heb.

After having explored the horror and supernatural in Phantasmagoria, Sierra On-Line is back with another shivering title called "A Puzzle of Flesh". Even more frightful than the first adventure, Phantasmagoria 2 (PH2) features intense and scary scenes that will truly deliver a heap of emotions to the player. Delving this time into the psychological, PH2 blends reality and hallucinations together, plunging Curtis Craig, the hero of the game, in a drama where his own sanity could be questioned. Knowing that Curtis was released from a mental hospital exactly one year earlier is a sufficient reason to doubt his clairvoyance, but it also puts the player into the delicate position where he or she does not know for certain if Curtis' problems are back or not.

Przez pierwsze cztery płytki (z pięciu CD ogółem) ciśnienie akcji jest jak w dobrym kryminale. W samej końcówce gra zniża loty: przekształca się z thrillera psychologicznego w marnawy science-fiction. Wygląda to tak, jakby w ostatniej chwili autorzy dosztukowali nowe zakończenie. Mimo tego zgrzytu ogólna ocena drugiego odcinka cyklu PHANTASMAGORII jest bardzo dobra. Radzę degustować przy pełni księżyca.

Overall, Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh was an entertaining game, although not one of the more challenging. I would recommend it only to those with a strong stomach, a love of the macabre, and some time to kill -- but it might not be enough of a "game" for the experienced gamer.

Si tratta di un bel gioco, molto coinvolgente, in buon equilibrio tra la sceneggiatura e gli enigmi, i colpi di scena e la normalità. Un gioco che forse vuole suggerirci qualcosa: attenzione, in ciascuno di noi si può nascondere un alieno e non lo sappiamo... L'unica critica che possiamo fare agli sceneggiatori è quella di un finale un tantino banalotto, visti i presupposti. Ci si aspetta fuochi d'artificio e invece è solo un petardo. Ma è un limite perdonabile, tanto più che il gioco "pesa" assai, 5 cd, e forse un finale più smagliante avrebbe comportato l'aggiunta di un sesto disco, chissà.

Phantasmagoria 2 oder "Wie einige Heftklammern einem schreienden Opfer die Sprache verschlagen": eine ordentliche Story, fähige Darsteller, im Durchschnitt logische (aber nicht zwangsläufig einfallsreiche) Puzzles, stark verbesserte Grafik, ein paar gute Gags und nicht zuletzt eine Prise Erotik sind die Eckpfeiler eines Psycho-Thrillers, der - des Nachts gespielt - seine beabsichtigte Wirkung nicht verfehlt.

En este caso, los primeros cuatro capítulos cumplen perfectamente con su cometido a la hora de sumergirnos en un mundo escalofriante. Las películas están realmente bien filmadas, los actores pueden actuar de verdad y las escenas de muerte son mucho más sensacionales e ingeniosas que en el juego de Roberta. Pero de repente las cosas empiezan a ir en picada, la historia pasa de ser morbosa a demasiado apresurada, los puzzles atentan contra la vida del jugador y el video del final “bueno” dura 5 segundos y pretende, sin lograrlo, que la historia termine de cerrar.

The story itself is intriguing and had a lot of potential but, for me, it struggled to emerge from beneath the dead weight of so many 'special effects'. It's a shame that, with this particular series, Sierra can't decide if they wish to make a movie or a game. Although I think they should be applauded for attempting something different I, for one, hope they don't neglect their more traditional adventuring audience by pursuing this 'interactive movie' path. If you enjoyed the first Phantasmagoria then you may like to give this one a try.

Efter min mening mangler det dog alsidighed, og er alt i alt et spil, som har potentiale til at blive en hel masse, men som har for mange små problemer til at blive husket som andet end efterfølgeren til 1'eren!

If you're in the mood for something short and nasty and tacky, if you like video, and if you like the concept of an interactive movie, I can heartily recommend Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh. Other players may simply believe that I need therapy.

Defenestrada en su día por muy diversas razones y prejuicios, Puzzle of Flesh resulta ser un experimento aventurero bastante interesante, sobre todo cuando la mayor parte de juegos que se suponen "adultos" se apoyan unicamente en violencia infantil, escatología y sexo chusco (y siempre heterosexual). Ver cómo una aventura gráfica estira todos esos límites hasta el máximo, y que utiliza todos los medios audiovisuales competentes (en vez de la chapucería inherente al género gore) para rodearlo, te lleva a admirar un esfuerzo que, como gran parte de los esfuerzos innovadores de Sierra, fue incomprendido.

Nicht nur bei einigen Puzzles, auch bei der Story hapert es - selbst wenn alles nur ein Traum sein sollte. Während anfang noch halbwegs glaubhaft Spannung aufgebaut wird, entwickelt sich der Plot gegen Ende so hanebüchen, daß fast eine Horror-Persiflage entsteht. Besonders der absolut mißglückte Auftritt der bis dato ganz erträglichen Schauspieler als Zombies hat eine unfreiwillige Komik. Konservative Abenteurer seien vor Phantasmagoria 2 gewarnt. Anhänger interaktiver Splatter-Videos müssen ohnehin kaufen, was sie nicht im Regel lassen können.

Phantasmagoria 2 on suorastaan suututtavan huono seikkailun nimellä myytävä videoshow. Peliä mukana ei ole oikeastaan laisinkaan, eikä tuotos toimi elokuvanakaan. Jännityselementti on olematon ja peli on uskomattoman lineaarinen pakottaen pelaajan tekemään asiat juuri vaaditussa järjestyksessä. Eihän tästä tule kuin vihaiseksi.

Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh is the second game of a planned horror trilogy from Sierra On-Line. The game is also a departure in both design and production from the original Phantasmagoria. Written by Lorelei Shannon (not Roberta Williams who has written the original Phantasmagoria), this game is not meant to be a true sequel but as a separate adventure with new characters and story. In attempt to aim for a more mature adult audience, the story in Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh centers on the portrayals of the human psyche and human sexuality, mixed with a high level of gore and violence. Whether such an attempt translates to an artistic success is highly debatable.

Perhaps A Puzzle of Flesh is best summed up by my gut reaction during the conclusion. As the credits rolled, all I felt was regret - regret that I had spent a good chunk of my life in this ugly world, with annoying, unappealing characters and their silly problems.

No cóż, przyszedł czas, żeby napisać podsumowanie. Nie będzie ono zbyt przyjemne... ani dla mnie, ani tym bardziej dla gry. Gdy zobaczyłem pudełko i przeczytałem to, co było na jego odwrocie oczekiwałem, że spędzę na Phantasmagorii 2 przynajmniej tydzień. Spodziewałem się gry podnoszącej adrenalinę, przygodówki przy której można dostać zawału serca (może trochę przesadziłem ;-) ). Gry, w którą nie da się grać przy zgaszonym świetle. Co otrzymałem w zamian? Zaledwie kilka godzin nieciekawej gry, z czego większość stanowią równie nieciekawe sekwencje wideo. Brak muzyki. Słabe aktorstwo bohaterów. Te wszystkie czynniki przyczyniły się do tego, że Phantasmagorii 2: A Puzzle of Flesh daję 3 (w porywach 3+).

Phantasmagoria 2 - A Puzzle of Fleshs ramhandling är inte så pjåkig, men väldigt amerikanskt i sitt försök att vara trendigt frisläppt (kinkysex, gayantydningar, splatter, Tarantinoreferenser etc.) Spelmässigt är det värre. Här är det för lite pussel och för mycket segt fläsk, och P2 hade lika gärna kunnat ges ut på video så att man kunnat snabbspola sig förbi de pratigaste partierna. Detta lär vara Sierras sista försök i interaktivfilmsgenren. Må den vila i frid.
