Description

Blacklight: Retribution is the sequel to Blacklight: Tango Down. Like its predecessor, it is a first-person shooter focused solely on online multiplayer, but this time, it's available under a free-to-play business model. It is set in the same futuristic universe as the first game. Players can compete in various game modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, Kill Confirmed etc. in private or public online matches.

Already featured in the first game, the Hyper Reality Visor (HRV) highlights enemies and other important things on your HUD and even let's you see through walls. But it is only usable for a limited amount of time and needs to recharge after use. Additionally, special grenades can disrupt the HRV's use. A level-based ranking system was also retained from the predecessor. Among the new features are Weapon Depots and Hardsuits: The former supply ammunition, heavy weapons and health at the cost of Combat Points (CP), which are earned during gameplay. The latter are heavily armed exoskeletons, which can be controlled by players. They are very hard to destroy using the standard arsenal, but the HRV can reveal weak points.

Weapons and equipment are extensively customizable: There are several basic weapon models called receivers, like pistol or assault rifle. By adding or changing specific components like barrel, optic sight, magazine or muzzle, players can create their own custom firearms. As an alternative, players may also buy pre-configured weapons (called Premades). Both weapon parts for customization and pre-made guns are obtained at the in-game marketplace, which offers body armor and other items as well. Two in-game currencies can be used: GP and ZEN. GP is slowly earned by playing, whereas ZEN can be bought with real money. So players wanting a certain item can either spend time playing until they gather enough GP, or they may buy ZEN and get the item immediately.
